The Guardians of Humanity: Unveiling the Inquisition
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, humanity teeters on the brink of collapse. As the Imperium of Man struggles to maintain its grip on the galaxy, a secretive and powerful organization works tirelessly behind the scenes to safeguard humanity’s very existence. The Inquisition, a mysterious and feared institution, is the Imperium’s first line of defense against the myriad threats that lurk in the shadows.
Origins Shrouded in Mystery
The Inquisition’s founding is a tale of intrigue and deception. Two competing narratives have emerged, each attempting to explain the circumstances surrounding the organization’s creation. The first account speaks of the Emperor’s direct involvement, where he entrusted Malcador, the Sigillite, with the task of gathering a select group of individuals to form an elite corps of investigators. These chosen few were tasked with rooting out the alien, mutant, and heretic, and were blessed with paranormal skills to combat the horrors that lurked in the warp.
The second narrative suggests that the Inquisition was formed in the aftermath of the Emperor’s interment in the Golden Throne. Four trusted servants, divided in their opinions on the Emperor’s fate, secretly gathered to discuss the future of humanity. Two of these individuals, Promeus and Moriana, set out to revive the Emperor, while the remaining two established the Inquisition to counter their efforts.
The Ordos: A Complex Web of Power
As the Inquisition evolved, it became clear that a formalized hierarchy was unnecessary. Instead, like-minded individuals coalesced into distinct factions, each pursuing a specific agenda. These factions, known as Ordos, operate with a degree of autonomy, allowing Inquisitors to move freely between them as they see fit.
Currently, there are three major Ordos: the Ordo Malleus, which focuses on daemonic threats; the Ordo Xenos, which investigates alien influence; and the Ordo Hereticus, which polices the Ecclesiarchy and roots out heresy. These branches are ever-present, for their mission is considered never-ending.
Inquisitors: Agents of the Imperium
Inquisitors, the agents of the Inquisition, are trained to deal with all manner of threats. While membership in an Ordo is not mandatory, many Inquisitors choose to affiliate themselves with a particular faction. These individuals are driven by a singular purpose: to safeguard humanity’s survival in a grim and unforgiving universe.
As the Inquisition continues to operate in the shadows, its agents ever vigilant and prepared to face the unknown dangers that lurk in the darkness, one thing becomes clear: the Imperium’s very existence depends on the success of this secretive and powerful organization.
