Iron Hands Warhammer 40K – Part 2 (Part 2 of 6)

The Trauma of Isstvan V: Unraveling the Iron Hands’ Downfall

The events on Isstvan V left an indelible mark on the Iron Hands, a scar that would forever change the fabric of their existence. The crushing defeat at the hands of their traitorous brethren sent shockwaves throughout the Legion, leading to a downward spiral of self-doubt, recrimination, and chaos.

A Fractured Legion

In the aftermath of the Dropsite Massacre, the Iron Hands fractured into disparate factions, each grappling with the consequences of their failure. Some Iron Hands turned their anger inward, lashing out at their own perceived weaknesses, while others channeled their rage towards the traitors who had brought about their downfall. A small but significant contingent even abandoned their oath of loyalty, opting to join forces with the very enemies they had once sworn to vanquish.

Campaigns of Redemption

As the dust settled on Isstvan V, the majority of the Iron Hands set out on “campaigns of redemption,” seeking to atone for their past failures and exact revenge on those responsible. These crusades took many forms, from guerrilla warfare to all-out battles against the traitor legions. Shadrak Meduson, a prominent Iron Hand leader, waged a particularly notable campaign, nearly succeeding in assassinating several high-ranking traitor leaders during the Battle of Dwell.

Rebirth and Reckoning

Meanwhile, on the planet of Medusa, a large contingent of Iron Hands regrouped and reorganized under the banner of the Medusan Council. This newly formed entity began recruiting new Space Marines, determined to rebuild and revitalize the shattered remnants of the Legion. However, not all Iron Hands shared this vision, and some opted to forge their own paths, rejecting the authority of the Medusan Council and pursuing their own agendas.

The Tempering

In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Iron Hands Chapter gathered on Medusa for a conclave known as “the Tempering.” There, they determined that no single individual would ever again command the Iron Hands, instead opting for a collective leadership structure known as the Iron Council. This marked a significant turning point in the history of the Iron Hands, as they embarked on a mission to purge humanity of its flaws and exact payment for the wrongs done to them.

A Legacy of Steel and Fire

Today, the Iron Hands continue their unyielding campaign against weakness and imperfection, fueled by a burning desire for redemption and a determination to forge a better future for humanity. Their legacy is one of steel and fire, tempered in the crucible of war and shaped by the unyielding principles of their forebears. As they march forward into the unknown, the Iron Hands remain an unbreakable bulwark against the forces of chaos, a testament to the indomitable will of the Space Marines.
