War Of Beasts Warhammer 40K – Part 11 (Part 11 of 17)

The Fate of Vigilus

In a bold move, Calgar, the Ultramarines Chapter Master, challenged Abaddon, the Warmaster of Chaos, to a duel at the Eyrie of Reflection on Saint’s Haven. Fighting through hordes of Haarken Worldclaimers Raptors, Calgar stood tall, goading Abaddon into a confrontation.

A Fateful Duel

As the two enemies clashed, their bodyguards engaged in a fierce battle around them. Calgar sought to keep his distance from Abaddon, using his Bolter to strike from afar. Abaddon retaliated with his own Bolter fire, but Calgar managed to dodge and land a blow that cracked the Warmaster’s jaw. Enraged, Abaddon swung his sword, Drach’nyen, severing two of Calgar’s fingers and slashing open his armor.

A Desperate Escape

As Calgar fell to the ground, Haarken Worldclaimer informed Abaddon that the Vengeful Spirit was critically wounded and on the verge of destruction. Forced to withdraw, Abaddon left behind a group of Possessed to finish off Calgar. However, the Ultramarine’s enhanced biology kicked in, allowing him to summon the strength to slay a Greater Possessed and escape with the help of the Victrix Guard.

Vigilus’ Future

With Abaddon’s departure, the Chaos warbands began to fracture and fight among themselves. The Mechanicum defenders on Megaborealis continued to clash with the World Eaters, while the Iron Hands launched an artillery strike that decimated the Chaos Space Marines. Despite the ongoing violence, the Blackstone deposits on Vigilus and its sister world, Sangua Terra, remained intact, holding the Nachmund Gauntlet open.

Abaddon’s Next Move

The Warmaster still hopes to crush the Nachmund Gauntlet by deploying the Planet Killer to Sangua Terra. Meanwhile, the Dark Eldar battled the Thousand Sons around a hidden Webway Portal, using stolen terraforming technology to summon blizzards against their enemies.

The Ork Threat

Krooldakka’s Speedwaaagh! may have been defeated, but the Orks remain a plague across the wastelands of Vigilus. Their Scrap cities endure, and word of a fun fight has reached Orks across the galaxy, drawing additional worlds into violence.

A Long Road to Recovery

Imperial propaganda claims that the war is all but won, but the truth is more complex. The road to recovery on Vigilus has begun, but the planet remains beset by violence and uncertainty.
