Grand Alliance of Death: Age of Sigmar

The Unyielding Legions of Death: Nagash’s Unrelenting March

In the dark expanse of the Mortal Realms, a singular force drives forward with unyielding determination: the Grand Alliance of Death, led by the Supreme Lord of the Undead, Nagash. With armies of undead creatures and mortals at his command, Nagash seeks to eradicate the living and reshape the realms in his image.

At the heart of this grand alliance lies the dark art of necromancy, mastered by Nagash himself. His power is so great that even the Pantheon of Order once employed him in their service. However, Nagash’s ambition knows no bounds, and he now seeks to dominate the realms, casting down the nations of the living to raise an unchanging empire under his control.

From the depths of the Shyish Nadir, Nagash plots his conquest of the realms, aided by his Mortarchs, powerful servants bound to his will. Together, they seek to create a ‘necrotopia’ where concepts such as free will and emotion are forgotten, leaving Nagash the sole power in the cosmos.

The armies of the Soulblight Gravelords march to assail the living, led by cruel vampires who rise with their hosts on the darkest nights. These armies are a constant scourge upon civilization, and only the destruction of the Soulblight vampire leading them can defeat them.

Each Soulblight vampire possesses far greater strength and speed than a normal man, and many have impressive command over necromatic sorceries. However, these boons come at the cost of requiring regular consumption of fresh blood to survive. Vampires are amongst the most individualistic of the undead, retaining many of the same compulsions and ambitions they had in life.

The greatest vampires serve in the Legions of Blood and Night, led by Neferata and Mannfred von Carstein, respectively. Beneath these great legions are lesser vampiric clans known as dynasties, which often possess their own quirks and obsessions.

Clad in morbid armor and riding atop enchanted palaquins or ferocious undead beasts, the vampires themselves are the most fearsome warriors of the Gravelord armies. Deadwalker zombies, corpses raised as puppets via the necromatic arts, form the vanguard of the collective undead armies.

Deep within the ruins of fallen civilizations, a dark and sinister force lurks in the shadows: the Flesh-eater Courts, armies of degenerate cannibals driven by a madness-inducing curse. At the heart of these twisted kingdoms are the vampiric masters, monstrous creatures known as abhorrants, who rule with an iron fist.

The origins of the Flesh-eaters are rooted in tragedy, born from the desperation of mortals struggling to survive in a world ravaged by chaos. They turned to cannibalism as a means of sustenance, and it was not until they were discovered by the vampiric brood of Ushoran that they became true Flesh-eaters, or ‘mordants’.

Each Flesh-Eater Court is ruled by a single abhorrant, a hideous vampire that tears at its foes with wild abandon. The abhorrant monarchs are served by favored courtiers, who bear repulsive titles such as Maquis Gruelsop and Lord Liverbelch.

When the flesh of monsters and the blood of the vampiric abhorrants is splattered across the feasting table, Crypt Horrors and Crypt Flayers are born. These are perceived as the knights of the Flesh-eaters, utterly loyal to their masters whose blood they have consumed.

The Flesh-eaters maintain a complex relationship with the Great Necromancer Nagash, who considers them his servants bound through their devotion to the vampiric abhorrants. Some Flesh-eaters worship Nagash as a benevolent father-god, whilst others fear him as a tyrant.

Whilst other champions of Death may look down upon mordants as they are not truly undead, only a fool would underestimate them. What they lack in sanity they make up for in ferocity, and their frenzy has proven the bane of even the mightiest armies.

In the dark corners of the Mortal Realms, a chilling phenomenon has been unfolding: the Nighthaunt, a legion of vengeful spirits driven by an insatiable hatred for those who still breathe. These ghostly warriors are a testament to the cruel justice of the Great Necromancer, Nagash.

The Nighthaunt have become increasingly prominent in the wake of the Shyishian Necroquake, which has empowered them to rise from their graves and take to the battlefields in unprecedented numbers. Led by the enigmatic Lady Olynder, the Mortarch of Grief, the Nighthaunt Processions have become the vanguard of Nagash’s armies.

The Nighthaunt are a force to be reckoned with, capable of striking fear into the hearts of even the most seasoned warriors. Their ethereal bodies glow with an otherworldly light, and their mournful wails can freeze the blood of those who dare to oppose them.

The appearance of a Nighthaunt is often a reflection of their past transgressions in the eyes of Nagash. Those who died in chains remain bound, while necromancers and spirit-speakers are forced to bear unholy lanterns that draw wayward spirits to them.

Led by powerful wraiths and gheist-kings, the Nighthaunt are a merciless and unyielding force, driven by a singular purpose: to spread despair and terror throughout the Mortal Realms.

In the Mortal Realms, a force of unrelenting terror marches forth, driven by the unyielding will of Nagash: the Ossiarch Bonereapers, his blade of conquest. These are not mindless undead hordes, but rather war constructs forged from the very essence of death itself.

Each Bonereaper is a testament to Nagash’s mastery of the necromatic arts. Through arcane rituals and unholy soul
