M31 Warhammer 40K – Part 1 (Part 1 of 6)

The Horus Heresy: A Galaxy in Flames

Early Conflicts (000-099.M31)

The galaxy teetered on the brink of chaos as the Imperium of Man expanded its reach. The Thousand Sons, Space Wolves, and Word Bearers brought the Ark Reach Cluster under compliance, while Major General Hestor Navarre was appointed Imperial governor. Meanwhile, Perturabo led the Iron Warriors to Olympia, quelling civil unrest through brutal force, resulting in the deaths of over five million people and the enslavement of millions more.

The Ullanor Crusade and Its Aftermath (100-199.M31)

The Ullanor Crusade came to an end with the destruction of Ork warboss Urlakk Urg’s empire. The Emperor of Mankind, pleased with the outcome, named Horus as his Warmaster and renamed the Luna Wolves as the Sons of Horus. However, this period of triumph was short-lived, as tensions began to rise between the Legiones Astartes.

Rising Tensions and Betrayal (200-299.M31)

As the Horus Heresy unfolded, the Imperium was rocked by a series of battles and betrayals. The Council of Nikaea, convened to determine the fate of Space Marine Librarians, ultimately led to the restriction of their powers. Magnus the Red, ordered to cease his study of sorcery, would later play a pivotal role in the downfall of the Imperium.

Battle and Bloodshed (300-399.M31)

War raged across the galaxy as the Legiones Astartes clashed with enemies both internal and external. The Battle of Akum-Sothos Cluster saw the Warmaster Horus lead a force against the Unsighted Kings, while the Raven Guard swore never to fight alongside Horus again after the Battle of Gate Forty-Two. The Interex made contact with the Imperium, but their intentions were shrouded in mystery.

The Fall of Horus (400-499.M31)

Erebus’ manipulation of Horus ultimately led to the Warmaster’s downfall. Tempted by the powers of Chaos, Horus accepted the offer and awoken nine days after being interred in the Serpent Lodge’s Delphos chamber. Magnus the Red’s attempts to warn the Emperor of Horus’ betrayal were met with failure, and the stage was set for the devastating Drop Site Massacre.

A Galaxy in Ruin (500-599.M31)

As the Horus Heresy reached its climax, the galaxy was plunged into darkness. The Emperor’s Children destroyed Eldar Maiden Worlds with virus bombs, while the Space Wolves and Dark Angels fought on distant battlefields. The once-mighty Imperium was on the brink of collapse, its very existence threatened by the treachery of its own leaders.
