A combined force of Mortifactors and Ultramarines defeats a tendril of the Leviathan Hive Fleet at Tarsis Ultra. However, the remainder of the fleet continues to rampage across the galaxy, leaving destruction in its wake.
Golgotha and the Third War for Armageddon (998.M41)
Sebastian Yarrick and Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka clash on Golgotha. Yarrick is captured and tortured but eventually released, as Ghazghkull seeks a worthy opponent for the upcoming Third War for Armageddon.
Tau Empire Expansion (998.M41)
The Tau Empire resumes its expansion under Commander Shadowsun, capturing several worlds on the Eastern Fringe. The Imperium responds with the Taros Campaign, which ultimately fails to halt the Tau advance.
Necron Incursions (998.M41)

The Dark Angels and Black Templars come to blows over the handling of a prisoner. Inquisitor Archibald is assigned to lead an inquiry into the incident.
Third War for Armageddon (998.M41)
The war begins, with the Imperium committing vast forces to hold the planet. The conflict drags on for months, with Ghazghkull eventually growing bored and leaving his generals to finish the fight.
Zeist Campaign (998.M41)
Captain Cato Sicarius leads a Crusade with elements from thirty Space Marine Chapters to halt the expansion of the Tau Empire. The Tau are driven off dozens of Imperial worlds in the Zeist sector.
Colonel Schaeffer’s Penal Legion (998.M41)
Colonel Schaeffer leads the 13th Penal Legion into the Daemon World of Fool’s Paradise to hunt down the Daemon Prince Mk’lrathirix. Only two survivors return.
