M41 Warhammer 40K – Part 9 (Part 9 of 14)

Warhammer 40,000 Timeline: A Galaxy in Turmoil

Early Conflicts (M41)

The Khorneate warband, the Ravagers, begins raiding isolated shipping lines and colonies. Despite their speed, they are eventually caught by the Imperial Navy over the Tau colony of Salomine, resulting in the destruction of most of the warband.

Meanwhile, the Elysian Drop Troops of the Imperial Guard break a decade-long blockade of the Stranthium Orbital Space Docks, driving off Ork Kaptin Blacklaw and his Freebooterz.

Daemonic Incursions (M41)

M’kar, a Daemon Prince, returns from the Warp and seizes control of the star fort Indomitable. Marneus Calgar leads Terminators from the Ultramarines First Company aboard the fort and defeats the Daemon Prince. However, Calgar is forced to imprison the Daemon within the star fort’s warp core and set it adrift.

Imperial Offensives (M41)

The Imperial Guard launches an offensive on Bren’s World, but it stalls due to the defenses of Haven’s Spire. Elite Storm Trooper units break the deadlock by destroying several void-shield generators.

On Derondii, the Death Korps of Krieg are deployed as an honor guard for the Departmento Munitorum investigation team. After locals lynch the team, the Death Korps levels the primary hive city with a ten-year artillery barrage.

Chaos Incursions (M41)

Inquisitor Pranix leads a strikeforce of Space Wolves, Cadian, and Tallarn Imperial Guard against the Red Corsairs on the Hollow Worlds. However, Huron Blackheart has preselected sections of tunnel collapsed, isolating and destroying portions of the Imperial army.

Warlord Yarrick’s Quest (M41)

Commissar Yarrick comes out of retirement and devotes the rest of his life to hunting down Ghazghkull Thraka. He serves with the 70th Luther McIntyre regiment on V’run, responding to Ork attacks throughout the Segmentum Solar.

Second War for Armageddon (M41)

A massive Ork Waaagh! led by Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka assaults the hive world Armageddon Secundus. Overlord Herman von Strab’s forces are saved by Commissar Yarrick’s leadership, buying enough time for elements from the Blood Angels, Ultramarines, and Salamanders Space Marine Chapters to arrive and push the Orks off-world.

Later Conflicts (M41)

The Balur Crusade, led by Marneus Calgar, scours Ork-held Balur and devastates Boros. On Atria IV, sappers from the Catachan XXIII breach the walls of the Palace of Hate within a week of their arrival.

The 814th Feast of Blades is held, with only eight of the twelve competing Space Marine chapters attending. The championship is tied between the Imperial Fists and the Crimson Fists.

Other Events (M41)

Dark Angels Librarian Ezekiel kills Ork Warlord Groblinik in the Battle of the Sularian Gate, ending his Waaagh! The Amar secession is brought to a swift end by the rapid strikes of the Howling Griffons chapter.

The Fall of Rogue’s Spire occurs when Waaagh! Dethrekka attacks the sparsely defended planet, and only the fighting retreat by the Sable Swords allows the Explorator and Mechanicus research teams to escape.

On Cyriax, something huge and terrible awakens beneath Hive Necros, killing hundreds of the city’s inhabitants. Great Wolf Logan Grimnar sends his elite Thunderwolf Cavalry to hunt down the Abomination of Cyriax.

Losses and Disasters (M41)

The Imperial Fist siege of the mega-fortress Fort Mork is nearly overwhelmed when thousands of Orks pour from the gates in a counter-attack. Task Force Red Hunters and Inquisition are lost near the moons of Lomea following the penitent crusade of the Mantis Warriors during The Red Hunt.

The Imperial base on Buca III is annihilated by an Ork asteroid base, an action ascribed to Ghazghkull Thraka. The Fire Hawks mobile chapter fleet is sent to Crow’s World sector to retaliate against Eldar pirates but is destroyed in the warp.

The Ultramarines clash with Tau colonization forces on the world of Malbede; both armies later unite against a Necron awakening. The Tau escape the planet, which is destroyed in an exterminatus ordered by Marneus Calgar shortly afterwards.
