Necromunda Planet Warhammer 40K – Part 3 (Part 3 of 6)

The Underhive: A World of Darkness and Despair

Deep beneath the ravaged surface of Necromunda lies a labyrinthine network of hive cities, each one a self-sustaining metropolis home to countless inhabitants. The hives are vast, sprawling structures that pierce the clouds like shards of splintered bone, their peaks hidden in the toxic haze that shrouds the planet.

Hive Cities: The Last Bastions of Civilization

Each hive city is a marvel of ancient engineering, its towering spires and grand architecture a testament to the ingenuity of Necromunda’s long-lost founders. From the majestic Hive Primus, the oldest and largest of the hives, to the ruined Hive Secundus, a once-great city now overrun by Genestealers, every hive is a unique and deadly environment.

Life in the Underhive

In the underhive, life is cheap and death is always just around the corner. Gangs of ruthless fighters, armed to the teeth and fueled by desperation, wage constant wars for territory and resources. The inhabitants of the underhive live in a world of perpetual darkness, where the only light comes from flickering lumens and the only hope is survival.

The Ash Wastes: A Desolate Landscape

Beyond the hive cities lies the ash wastes, a desolate landscape of burning deserts, toxic swamps, and ruined settlements. This is a place where even the hardiest of travelers fear to tread, where the very ground seems to writhe and twist in agony.

Cycles, Shifts, and Seasons

On Necromunda, time itself is distorted, warped by the planet’s peculiar rotation and the dictates of the Imperium. Cycles of activity and dormancy govern the lives of the underhive’s inhabitants, while shifts in the planet’s orbit bring about seasons of bitter cold and blistering heat.

The Hives of Necromunda

  • Hive Primus: The oldest and largest of the hives, a bastion of power and influence.
  • Hive Trazior: A frontier hive, home to merchant clans and ruthless gangs.
  • Acropolis Hive: A hub of commerce and industry, where the powerful merchant clans hold sway.
  • Hive Temenos: A center of Ecclesiarchal power, where the devout and pious come to worship.
  • The Skull: A derelict hive, abandoned to the ravages of time and the Orks.

This is Necromunda, a world of darkness and despair, where the strong survive and the weak perish. It is a place of endless conflict, where gangs, cults, and corrupt officials vie for power in a desperate bid to stay alive.
