Necron Warhammer 40K – Part 3 (Part 3 of 6)

The Necron Empire: A Force of Unyielding Resilience

In the distant reaches of the galaxy, a powerful and ancient civilization stirs from its long slumber. The Necrons, a legion of undead warriors forged from the remnants of the Necrontyr, are reawakening to reclaim their dominance over the cosmos.

A History of Rebirth and Conquest

As the Great Crusade raged across the galaxy, some Necron tomb worlds began to stir, while others remained dormant. To maintain order, the prematurely awakened Necrons formed the Awakened Council, a governing body that would guide their actions until the return of the Silent King. However, it was not until the later years of M41 that the majority of Necrons awoke, their numbers swelling to rival those of the Imperium.

The Silent King’s Quest for Unity

Szarekh, the enigmatic Silent King, has emerged from his self-imposed exile to unite the Necron dynasties against the threats of the Tyranids and other alien races. Through his loyal Triarch Praetorians, he seeks to reawaken the remaining tomb worlds and forge a unified front against the enemies of the Necrons. His ultimate goal is to reestablish the Infinite Empire, with the Necrons as the dominant force in the galaxy.

Necron Physiology and Technology

The Necrons are skeletal parodies of living beings, their bodies infused with swirling green energies and sustained by advanced technology. Their mechanical limbs and lifeless emerald eyes are a testament to their unyielding resilience. With superior strength and endurance, they are formidable opponents on the battlefield.

Reanimation Protocols and the Cost of Immortality

The Necrons possess sophisticated auto-repair systems, allowing them to recover from even the most crippling injuries. However, each act of transference, or “phasing out,” comes at a cost, slowly eroding their engrams and reducing them to mere automatons. This price of immortality weighs heavily on the Necrons, as they struggle to maintain their individuality in the face of repeated resurrection.

Hierarchy and Government

The Necrons inherited the same form of government as the Necrontyr, with the Triarchy serving as the highest political body. The Silent King, along with two high-ranking Phaerons, guides the destiny of the Infinite Empire. The Triarch Praetorians enforce the Triarch’s will upon the lower dynasties, maintaining order and discipline within the Necron ranks.

The Necron Dynasties

The Necron dynasties, each with its own distinct culture and traditions, are the building blocks of the Infinite Empire. From the mighty Sautekh to the enigmatic Nephrekh, each dynasty plays a vital role in the Necron hierarchy. As the Necrons continue to awaken and expand their dominion, the dynasties will remain crucial to their success.

The Necrons are a force to be reckoned with, their unyielding resilience and advanced technology making them a formidable opponent in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. As they strive to reclaim their dominance over the galaxy, the Imperium and other civilizations will be forced to confront the reality of Necron power.
