Night Lords Warhammer 40K – Part 1 (Part 1 of 7)

The Shadow Legion: Unveiling the Night Lords

“We are the sons of Konrad Curze, the Night Haunter. We will bring our wrath upon the empire that betrayed us, and though the ages may see us divided and broken by the endless war ahead, we will stand untainted until the stars themselves die.”

Origins of the Night Lords

The VIII Legion, later known as the Night Lords, was formed from the darkest corners of Terra’s prisons. The Emperor recruited these “Night’s Children” to create a formidable force. Their first mission was to quash the Terran Saragorn Enclave’s illicit psy-breeding experiments. The Night Lords executed the Emperor’s retribution with ruthless efficiency.

The Night Haunter’s Legacy

Konrad Curze, the Night Haunter, was the Primarch of the Night Lords. He brought order to his homeworld, Nostramo, a planet plagued by corruption and violence. However, he eventually deemed it irredeemable and ordered its destruction. The remnants of Nostramo remain hidden, a testament to the Night Haunter’s legacy.

The Horus Heresy and Its Aftermath

The Night Lords turned traitor during the Horus Heresy, waging a bloody campaign across Imperial space. The death of Konrad Curze at the hands of an Imperial Assassin marked a turning point for the Legion. They now operate as a fragmented terror force, seeking power and material possessions in the Eye of Terror.

Philosophy of the Night Lords

The Night Lords scorn faith and respect only temporal power. Many consider themselves free from Chaos’ taint, despising those they deem corrupted. This philosophy sets them apart from other Chaos Space Marines.
