Soul Drinkers Warhammer 40K – Part 1 (Part 1 of 5)

The Soul Drinkers: A Renegade Chapter’s Quest for Justice

In a galaxy torn apart by war and corruption, one Space Marine Chapter dares to defy the Imperium. The Soul Drinkers, once a loyal and respected Successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists, have become a thorn in the side of the Emperor’s regime. Their story is one of rebellion, self-discovery, and the pursuit of justice in a grim darkness.

A Legacy of Betrayal

The Soul Drinkers were born from the ashes of the Horus Heresy, forged by Rogal Dorn himself during the Second Founding. As a symbol of their unwavering dedication to the Imperium, Dorn gifted the Chapter with the revered Soulspear, a powerful artifact wielded by the legendary primarch. However, as the centuries passed, the Soul Drinkers began to question the Imperium’s motives and morals.

The War of the Beast

In the 32nd millennium, the Soul Drinkers joined forces with other Imperial Fists Successor Chapters to form a Legion, as dictated by the Last Wall protocol. Under the leadership of Chapter Master Euclydeas, they contributed significantly to the war effort against the orks. This period marked a turning point for the Soul Drinkers, as they began to realize that their loyalty to the Imperium was not reciprocated.

Becoming Renegades

A series of events led the Soul Drinkers down a path of rebellion. An operation to retrieve the lost Soulspear from a criminal organization ended in betrayal, as Adeptus Mechanicus forces stole the relic and forced the Soul Drinkers to take drastic action. The Chapter’s subsequent actions, including the destruction of an orbital platform and the slaughter of thousands of Tech-Guard, earned them the label of Excommunicate Traitoris.

Under the Sway of a Daemon Prince

As the Soul Drinkers navigated the treacherous landscape of the Imperium, they fell under the influence of a Tzeentch Daemon Prince masquerading as an aspect of the Emperor. Sarpedon, the Chapter Master, became disillusioned with the Imperium and opted to keep his Chapter renegade. However, when the Daemon Prince Abraxes revealed his true nature, Sarpedon refused to serve him, instead attacking and slaying the daemon.

The Empire of Teturact

The Soul Drinkers’ journey continues, as they seek to forge their own path in a galaxy hostile to their existence. With the Imperium and Chaos forces arrayed against them, the Chapter must rely on their unyielding resolve and unwavering commitment to justice. Though their future is uncertain, one thing is clear: the Soul Drinkers will not be silenced.
