Soul Drinkers Warhammer 40K – Part 2 (Part 2 of 5)

Betrayal and Heresy: The Soul Drinkers’ Quest

In a distant corner of the Imperium, a powerful heretic named Teturact carved out a vast empire through his mastery of noxious, mind-controlling viruses. His dark powers won him godhood in the eyes of those he infected, and he claimed several key Imperial worlds as his own.

The Soul Drinkers’ Crusade

Chapter Master Sarpedon of the Soul Drinkers saw an opportunity to cure his Chapter’s mutations by exploiting the research facility on Stratix Luminae, a world where the old Soul Drinkers had once fought. The Chapter sought out surviving Mechanicus personnel across several worlds under Teturact’s sway, all while evading the Inquisitorial Taskforce Thaddeus.

Confronting Teturact

As the Soul Drinkers closed in on Stratix Luminae, Teturact intervened personally, unleashing his undead followers and debris from his flag-battleship to rain down on the Chapter. Sarpedon managed to stun Teturact long enough for Inquisitor Thaddeus to deliver the killing blow, extinguishing Teturact’s soul and shattering his empire.

Dealing with Tellos

After Teturact’s defeat, the Soul Drinkers fled Stratix Luminae, leaving behind several assault squads under Tellos’ command. Tellos, now fully under the influence of the Blood God Khorne, subverted his squads to the service of the Chaos deity.

Entymion IV: A Descent into Chaos

Sarpedon tracked Tellos to Entymion IV, a world held by a mysterious alliance of Dark Eldar and Slaaneshi Cultists. The Imperial Guard, aided by the Crimson Fists, were attempting to liberate the world. The Soul Drinkers infiltrated the world, hijacking landers from the Imperial Navy, and clashed with the Crimson Fists in a brutal brawl.

A Web of Betrayal

The Dark Eldar observed the Soul Drinkers fighting against the loyalist forces and offered Sarpedon an alliance, which he accepted while planning his own betrayal. As the Soul Drinkers split into two parts to blunt the Imperial Guard, their scouts sought out Tellos in the city.

The Final Confrontation

The scouts located Tellos and his retinue, and Chaplain Iktinos held them in place long enough for Sarpedon to arrive and defeat Tellos. However, the Dark Eldar’s plan to awaken a secret army of mutated human slaves beneath the city was already in motion, propelling Entymion IV towards becoming a Daemon World.

The Last Laugh

The Soul Drinkers ultimately foiled the Dark Eldar’s plan by tricking the Crimson Fists into attacking the xenos stronghold, slaying all the Dark Eldar and preventing their plan from reaching fruition. Though the world was destroyed by Exterminatus, the Soul Drinkers had the last laugh.

The 2nd Chapter War

The stage was set for the next great conflict, as the Soul Drinkers prepared to face new challenges and battles in the grim darkness of the far future.
