Squig Warhammer 40K – Part 4 (Part 4 of 4)

The Diverse World of Squigs

Squigs are an integral part of Ork society, serving various purposes in their unique and often brutal culture. These creatures come in numerous breeds, each with distinct characteristics and uses.

Cavalry Mounts and Beasts of Burden

The Squighog is a large, four-legged squig used as a cavalry mount by Ork Squighog Boyz. Its strength and ferocity make it an ideal companion in battle. Similarly, the Tramplasquig is a massive, four-legged squig used to pull vehicles like the Hunta and Kill Rigs.

Unconventional Musical Instruments

The Squigpipe is a peculiar breed used by Orks as a musical instrument. Its bag-like body is equipped with tube-like probosces, which produce a cacophonous sound when squeezed. This “music” is often used to intimidate enemies or boost morale before battles.

Dangerous Sea Creatures

Squigsharks are the Ork-infested planet’s equivalent of Terran sharks. These ferocious sea creatures are feared by Ork sailors, who often fall prey to their deadly attacks.

Medical Applications

Painboyz utilize various squig breeds for medical purposes. The Syringe Squig, for example, delivers a potent venom that can knock out Orks for up to three days, making it an effective anesthetic. The Vampire Squig, with its leathery wings and sharp fangs, is used to bleed patients and suck out bad blood from septic wounds.

Targeting and Psionic Abilities

The Targeting Squig serves as a biological equivalent of the Gitfinda, helping Flash Gitz aim their shots. The Wyrdsquig, a rare mutant breed, possesses densely packed neural lobes, making it a psionic bomb that can be triggered upon its death.

Other Breeds and Uses

The diversity of squig breeds is staggering, ranging from tiny micro-organisms to gigantic beasts used to create breathing atmospheres on Ork spaceships. Each breed has a unique purpose in Ork society, including notorious examples like the yellow-spotted facegnasha, the greater fang-gob, and the infamous leapin’ deff, which are often used as Bomb Squigs.
