Crisis on Vigilus
The planet of Vigilus teetered on the brink of collapse as Chaos forces, led by the notorious Warmaster Abaddon, launched a devastating assault on its defenses. In response, Chapter Master Marneus Calgar of the Ultramarines deployed his most elite aerial assets to intercept the incoming Black Legion forces.
Chaos Unleashed
However, the Chaos Raptor hordes, backed by the formidable Daemon Engines of Haarken, had already established a foothold on the planet’s surface. They broke cover, launching a ferocious attack on Imperial forces in the Hyperia Hivesprawl. The Alpha Legion, disguised as loyalists of the Ecclesiarchy’s Mission Benevolent Hand, initiated an uprising among cultists, further destabilizing the situation.
Imperial Forces Reel
The Cadian 92nd Heavy Infantry attempted to prevent cultists from capturing a vital water shipment at Hub K-876 but were badly mauled in the process. The destruction of the Benevolent Hand and the disruption of the water delivery triggered a worker revolt at the Magentine Arms facilities, crippling weapons production.
Calgar’s Dilemma
As Vigilus reeled under the Chaos onslaught, Calgar made the difficult decision to leave the planet’s defense to Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists. He set out to journey to Nemendghast aboard his flagship, Laurels of Victory, in search of answers regarding the fate of his strike force.
A Desperate Gambit
After a perilous journey into the void, Calgar encountered a Black Legion fleet led by the legendary Vengeful Spirit. Together with Arch-Commodore Hentzmann, he ordered his fleet to form a double cordon to intercept the Chaos armada. However, Abaddon’s forces proved relentless, and the Imperial fleet was forced to retreat back to Vigilus.
The Wolf at the Door
Just as Vigilus seemed on the verge of collapse, a Space Wolves force under Wolf Lord Krom Dragongaze arrived in orbit to reinforce the beleaguered planet. Instead of immediately landing to receive orders, Krom led an assault on the Ork Rocket-powered Space Hulk Worldsmasha, securing a crucial victory but earning a rebuke from Calgar for his aggressive recklessness.
Dirkden Besieged
As the situation on Vigilus continued to deteriorate, Haarken Worldclaimer tightened his grip on the Pyroclastic Cults within Storvhal, opening a Warp Portal that unleashed Daemons of Tzeentch upon the planet. With the arrival of Abaddon’s armada imminent, Vigilus teetered on the edge of ruin, its defenders facing an uncertain future.
