War Of Beasts Warhammer 40K – Part 9 (Part 9 of 17)

Chaos Unleashed on Vigilus

The once-thriving planet of Vigilus was on the brink of collapse. The Iron Warriors, masters of siegecraft, had breached the defenses of Mortwald, one of the largest Hivesprawls on the planet. The situation was dire, and the Imperium’s forces were stretched thin.

The Fall of Mortwald

The Iron Warriors’ Warpsmiths had used Scrapcode to disrupt the operating systems of the Bastion Force Fields, shutting down two-thirds of the networks. This allowed the Iron Warriors to launch a devastating armored blitz, sweeping aside defense trenches and capturing massive Tectonic Fragdrills. The Imperial Fists, led by Captain Dravastis Fane, intervened, but they were vastly outnumbered and outgunned.

As the Iron Warriors advanced, the ruling elite of Mortwald stockpiled food and water, unaware of the horrors that awaited them. The Flawless Host, a Chaos cult, infiltrated the Immortalis Spirehive, corrupting the elite with promises of luxury and immortality. The cult summoned hordes of Daemonettes, burning the spires from within and exposing the rotten heart of Mortwald.

The Purge of Dontoria

Meanwhile, in the Pravdus Subsprawl region of Dontoria, the Death Guard unleashed the Gellerpox, infecting countless citizens. The Purge, a radical faction, responded by slaughtering both infected and uninfected alike, hurling corpses into the Great Choke’s Manufactorums. The resulting industrial miasma suffocated all biological life, rendering Dontoria a lifeless barren.

Aftermath

The fall of Mortwald and Dontoria marked a significant turning point in the war. The Imperium’s forces were forced to withdraw, abandoning the regions to the forces of Chaos. The once-thriving planet of Vigilus was now a desolate wasteland, forever changed by the horrors of war.

A Bleak Future

As the war raged on, the citizens of Vigilus faced an uncertain future. Lake Donotor, a vital source of water, was forever corrupted by the servants of Nurgle. Water-starved citizens ventured into the wastes, risking Ork attacks. The Imperium’s forces were forced to kill these interlopers, adding to the endless cycle of violence and despair. The war had become a never-ending nightmare, with no end in sight.
