War Of The Beast Warhammer 40K – Part 7 (Part 7 of 9)

The Last Stand Against the Beast

In a desperate bid to defeat the Beast, Koorland devised a new plan. He would harness the anti-psychic powers of the Sisters of Silence to create a reverse Waaagh! effect, crippling the Ork forces. To achieve this, he needed to capture an Ork psyker and use them as a sacrifice.

The Capture of the Psyker

After several failed attempts on various planets, Koorland finally succeeded in capturing an Ork psyker on Incus Maximal. With the psyker in hand, he conducted a successful experiment, unleashing a localized reverse Waaagh! effect that devastated the Ork forces.

The Second Invasion of Ullanor

Emboldened by this success, Koorland launched a second invasion of Ullanor, determined to slay the Beast once and for all. The Imperial forces were assembled, comprising battered units of Space Marines, the Deathwatch, Imperial Guard Regiments, and other allies. Koorland himself led an elite assassination force, including Black Templars, Deathwatch Kill-Teams, and Sisters of Silence.

The Battle for Gorkogrod

The invasion began with a suicidal assault on the Ork energy shield protecting Gorkogrod. Koorland’s assassination force teleported into the central palace, only to find sparse resistance. However, the Beast was aware of their plan and quickly reactivated the energy shield, diverting his forces towards the palace. A massive Ork fleet ambushed the Imperial vessels in orbit, and the Beast’s trap was set.

The Final Confrontation

Koorland’s force fought bravely, eventually reaching the Beast’s throneroom. Inside, they found six thrones, six statues, and six banners. The Beast, a massive armored Ork, sat on one of the thrones, surrounded by an elite guard of hulking Orks and gargantuan Gargants. The Imperial assassins engaged the Beast, but he proved too powerful. Just as all seemed lost, the Sisters of Silence activated their ritual, creating a reverse-Waaagh! effect that disabled the Ork forces.

The Unexpected Twist

However, the victory was short-lived. A second, even larger Warboss entered the throneroom, revealing that there was never a single Beast. Koorland realized that there were six “Prime-Orks,” each commanding a Greenskin “Legion.” The new Beast swept aside the Imperial assassins, killing Koorland and forcing the Imperials to flee the planet.

One Final Effort

The Imperials regrouped, determined to make one final effort against the Beast. But for now, they could only mourn the loss of their Lord Commander, Koorland, the last son of Dorn.
