World Eaters Warhammer 40K – Part 3 (Part 3 of 11)

The Fateful Encounter

On the technologically advanced planet of Nuceria, a world plagued by poverty and oppression, Angron, the primarch of the Twelfth, was discovered by a gladiator slaver. The young Angron was badly wounded, surrounded by the corpses of native predators or xenos warriors, depending on the account.

A New Life in the Pits

Angron survived his capture and was thrust into the brutal world of gladiatorial combat. Initially underestimated by his new masters, his impressive prowess in the pits earned him a new level of respect. However, attempts to surgically and cybernetically enhance him were met with failure, except for the implantation of psycho-surgical devices known as the Butcher’s Nails. These devices amplified his aggression to superhuman levels.

A Plot for Freedom

Discontented and driven by his newfound abilities, Angron plotted his escape for years. He eventually led his fellow gladiators in an armed revolt, despite knowing that their chances of success were slim. Outnumbered by the forces of the nobles, Angron’s rebel force was pursued into the mountains.

The Emperor’s Intervention

It was at this point that the Emperor, who had been secretly watching Angron’s actions with pride, chose to intervene. He offered Angron a place by his side, but to the Emperor’s surprise, Angron rejected the offer. Instead, he chose to remain and die alongside his gladiator brethren. The Emperor refused to accept this decision and teleported Angron to safety on the eve of the final battle.

A New Chapter

Angron was transferred to a vessel of the awaiting War Hounds, where he would meet his genetic sons for the first time. However, this encounter was marked by extreme violence, as Angron’s rage over his recent experiences boiled over. He brutally murdered every legion officer who attempted to speak to him, until the 8th Captain, Khârn, was able to forge a bond with him.

The Birth of the World Eaters

When Angron emerged, ready to assume command of his legion, Khârn introduced him to his officers. One of them, Captain Dreagher, issued a response that would change the course of history: “Primarch! General! Your warriors were eaters of cities, lord, but with you to command us the War Hounds will be eaters of worlds!” And so, the World Eaters were born, with Angron at their helm.
