The Unyielding Fury of the World Eaters
In the aftermath of the Great Betrayal, Angron and his World Eaters joined forces with Lorgar’s Word Bearers on a campaign to ravage the Ultramar sector. This unholy alliance, known as the Shadow Crusade, would unleash untold destruction upon the galaxy.
A Trail of Blood and Betrayal
As the World Eaters and Word Bearers laid waste to world after world, tensions between the two Legions began to rise. The World Eaters’ unrelenting bloodlust and disregard for strategy sparked clashes with their Word Bearer allies. However, it was not until they were ambushed by Eldar forces that the two Legions put aside their differences and united against their common foe.
The True Purpose of the Shadow Crusade
Lorgar, ever the master manipulator, had ulterior motives for launching the Shadow Crusade. He sought to complete the Ruinstorm, a catastrophic event that would reshape the fabric of reality. Furthermore, Lorgar aimed to save Angron from the debilitating effects of the Butcher’s Nails, which were slowly eroding his sanity and killing him.
The Desecration of Nuceria
As the World Eaters and Word Bearers descended upon Nuceria, Angron’s homeworld, they were met with a gruesome sight: the bones of Angron’s fallen comrades, left to rot in the open air. Enraged, Angron ordered the wholesale slaughter of the planet’s inhabitants. The carnage was only interrupted by the arrival of Roboute Guilliman’s Ultramarines, who engaged the traitor forces in a desperate bid to halt the massacre.
The Transformation of Angron
During the battle, Lorgar seized the opportunity to complete his dark ritual, transforming Angron into a transcendent being of unbridled fury. As the World Eaters’ Primarch, Angron became an unstoppable force, driven solely by his insatiable hunger for destruction.
The Rampage Continues
With Angron at their helm, the World Eaters continued their rampage across the galaxy, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. Refusing all summons by Horus to muster at Ullanor, the World Eaters remained a rogue force, answerable only to their own twisted desires.
The Siege of Terra
The World Eaters played a pivotal role in the Siege of Terra, breaching the walls of the Imperial Palace and paving the way for the traitor Legions’ assault on the Eternity Gate. Though ultimately repelled, the World Eaters’ actions would forever be etched into the annals of history as a testament to their unyielding ferocity.
Legacy of the World Eaters
In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the World Eaters remained a scourge upon the galaxy, their numbers dwindling but their fury unabated. As a testament to their unyielding legacy, the World Eaters’ name became synonymous with terror, striking fear into the hearts of all who dared oppose them.
