Blood Angels : Blood for the Golden God – Part 15

Welcome back, fellow lore enthusiasts, to our multi-part deep dive into the Warhammer 40k universe! Today, we’ll be diving into a though-provoking tale of brotherhood, betrayal, and warfare on an interstellar scale. This story is a thrilling part of a larger narrative, so strap in and prepare to be transported light years away from our current reality.

Picture this: The Blood Angels, one of the most legendary Space Marine chapters, emerge from the warp to find themselves hundreds of light years off course. This wasn’t accidental. Their Primarch, Sanguinius, had ordered the Navigators to follow a potent telepathic signal. This beacon was an alien artifact known as the Pharos, located on the distant world of Saur. In pursuit of this signal, the Blood Angels traversed the galaxy, ending up in the realms of Ultramar.

The Blood Angels were soon met by an armada of Starships, their cobalt-blue hulls trimmed with white and gold. Their greeting party? None other than Rabut Gillan, master of the 13th Legion, who welcomed Sanguinius to the 500 worlds of Ultramar.

With the Imperium severed and isolated by the Ruinstorm, the guiding light of the Astronomican was no longer visible from Ultramar. Their communication line with the Emperor was severed, and after years of silence, Gillan declared a new Imperium – the Imperium Secundus, a bastion against the traitors and a continuation of the Emperor’s grand vision.

Upon the Blood Angel’s arrival, Gillan declared Sanguinius as the rightful heir to the Emperor. The Dark Angels, too, were drawn to the beacon of the Pharos, and their leader, Lion El’Johnson, was declared the Lord Protector of the realm and supreme commander of its military forces.

However, the foundation of the new Imperium was threatened by the Night Lord’s Primarch, Conrad Kurze, lurking within the bowels of the Dark Angel’s Flagship. His escape from the Invincible Reason triggered a cascade of terror and chaos across the realm. Despite Gillan’s and the Lion’s attempts to kill him, Kurze managed to escape, leaving destruction in his wake.

The next two years were filled with political and military clashes between Gillan and the Lion. The latter was convinced that Kurze was behind the civil unrest in the 500 worlds, triggering martial law and a massive orbital saturation bombardment. The Lion’s ruthless pursuit of Kurze and the rebels lead to a brutal confrontation in the city of Alamon, where the Lion finally cornered the Night Lord’s Primarch.

In a fierce battle, the Lion emerged victorious. However, when faced with the opportunity to kill Kurze, the Lion hesitated, instead choosing to present the grievously wounded Kurze before Sanguinius and Gillan for trial.

In an intense trial, Kurze defended his actions, arguing that he was merely fulfilling his destined role. This resulted in further discord between Gillan and the Lion, culminating in a dramatic moment where Gillan seized El Johnson’s lion sword and broke the blade across his armored thigh. Infuriated, El Johnson was banished from the Imperium Secundus, leading the Dark Angels to depart from the realm.

As the Dark Angels prepared to return to Caliban, El Johnson brooded over his actions and the many decisions he had come to regret. He ordered the device to teleport himself and Holan, thus concluding this chapter of our saga.

Stay tuned for the next part of our series, where we’ll unravel more thrilling tales from the Warhammer 40k universe!
