Pariah Nexus: Necron Invasion and the Imperium’s Response – Part 10

In a stunning twist of fate, the indomitable Inquisitor Draxus and her surviving allies found themselves miraculously transported from the heart of a Necron tomb to the relative safety of their Cruiser, nestled in orbit. This unanticipated event took place after a fierce battle against the Shard of the C’tan, a being of unimaginable power. Yet, against all odds, it spared them.

Draxus, ever pragmatic, put a pin in the perplexing question of their survival and resorted to immediate action. Orders were swiftly given to retreat and head towards Imperial lines. The price she had paid in blood and battle had been secured, now it was time to determine its worth.

However, as the tide of war ebbs and flows, the Necrons, under the guidance of the Silent King himself, began to regain their footing. The Silent King, known as Zarak, had arrived on the Tomb World of Zendu. He, along with approximately 3,000 Triarch Praetorians, met with Sarak and other Necron Lords to assess the progress of the Pariah Nexus.

Zarak’s arrival ignited a spark of hope among the Necrons. A counter-offensive was launched, mobilizing millions of warriors, and Zarak himself led the charge at the frontline. But the stubbornness of the humans caught his reluctant admiration as they refused to surrender, even in the face of certain doom.

The Silent King then unleashed a force of annihilation, consisting of five C’tan Shards, a horde of Annihilation Barges, and Canoptek Wraiths. The Imperial Guard forces on the planet Boris were decimated, with only a handful managing to evacuate in time.

Meanwhile, the Necron Overlord Cora had engaged in a duel with a Space Marine Captain. This delay in the Necron advancement led to a counterattack from the Imperials, triggering a chain of events that ended with the moon of Boris shattered into pieces by Zarak’s personal warship, the Song of Oblivion.

Simultaneously, Faron Shenok, recovering from a defeat at the hands of Ephel Stern, was rallying his forces to devastate the Imperial Fleet in the Gbon Nebula. Concurrently, Orikan the Diviner and his Crypteks were leading a mixed army against the Sisters of Battle Fortress on Vantis 3.

However, not all was harmonious among the Necrons. Tension was brewing within their ranks as Trzin the Infinite exposed the Necron presence in the system, leading to a bloody space battle. The ruling Overlord of the Orus dynasty held back his legions, while smaller dynasties used the ongoing war as a stage to settle their own disputes.

Despite having an overwhelming numerical advantage, the Silent King could not achieve complete dominion over the Pariah Nexus. As our tale concludes, we’re left with a cliffhanger – the records of the unknown author cut off abruptly, leaving us to decipher cryptic messages and eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this saga of Warhammer 40,000.
