Title: The Solar Citadel: The Siege of Terra and Rogal Dorn’s Last Stand
Rogal Dorn, the stalwart primarch of the Imperial Fists, was tasked with the unenviable responsibility of fortifying the solar system against the traitors of the Warmaster Horus. With the Emperor Himself on Terra, Dorn was entrusted to transform our beloved solar system into an impregnable fortress, a citadel of defiance against the encroaching darkness.
Dorn, ever the master strategist, designed each defensive zone with the potential onslaught of the Warmaster’s fleet in mind. His foresight would prove invaluable, as each of these fortifications would play a crucial role in the forthcoming conflict.
Yet, the enemy was not always where Dorn expected. The Alpha Legion, led by the treacherous Primarch Alpharius, launched a cunning attack from within. Alpharius had planted sleeper agents on Terra itself, who awoke and launched an assassination attempt against Dorn. The audacity of this move was not lost on the defenders of Terra, for the Alpha Legion had infiltrated the very heart of the Imperium.
In a cruel twist of fate, the saboteurs rigged the statues of the primarchs with explosives. When the dust settled, only two figures remained standing: the father of the Imperial Fists and Alpharius himself. Through this act, Alpharius sought to tell Dorn that his agents were everywhere, their reach extending even to the heart of the Imperium.
Despite this affront, Dorn did not let fear or anger cloud his judgment. He chose to keep the incident a secret, wisely understanding that the knowledge of such a breach could demoralize the defenders of Terra. He even went so far as to forbid anyone, even the Sigillite Malcador and the Legio Custodes, from entering the sanctum.
Yet, the presence of the Alpha Legion on Terra became impossible to hide entirely. When the truth inevitably came to light, it was met with criticism from none other than the Lord Regent of Terra himself.
The tension between Dorn and the Sigillite had been simmering from the day the latter was proclaimed regent. Throughout the Horus Heresy, their confrontation escalated into an invisible war of wills, with each defender of Terra believing their way was the correct path to protect the Imperium.
In the midst of this internal strife, the Alpha Legion continued their insidious operations. As part of Horus’s campaign on Terra, Alpharius and his legion were tasked with plunging the solar system into chaos, sowing fear and doubt among its inhabitants.
To achieve this, Alpharius placed his entire fleet into stasis, reducing their speed to a crawl to avoid detection. For a standard year, their ships drifted towards the Sun, all the while their sleeper agents carried out acts of terror throughout the solar system, distracting the Imperial defenders.
Their first target: Pluto and its five moons, with the primary focus being Hydra, the moon fortress of Pluto. Alpharius himself led the assault against Hydra, where the primary astropath monitoring station was located. Outnumbered and outgunned, the Imperial Fist defenders held their ground against the onslaught of the Alpha Legion.
With the stage set for an epic clash between the loyalists and the traitors, the fate of the Imperium hung in the balance. Under the shadow of betrayal and amidst the chaos of war, the defenders of Terra, led by Rogal Dorn, held steadfast. This was the solar citadel, a beacon of defiance in the face of treachery, and a testament to the unyielding spirit of the Imperium.
