Welcome back, dear readers, to our series where we delve deep into the lore of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, unearthing the rich, intricate details that bring this dystopian future to life. Today, we’ll journey to the shadowy depths of the Abelis Submarine Anxiety and the industrial world of Feric, where the air thickens with religious fanaticism and pestilence.
Feric, located in the Fal System, was the unfortunate host of a horrific outbreak of the Bubonic Plague, a vile disease turning living flesh into rancid jelly, causing internal organs to grotesquely swell and burst. The nightmare continued in the underground hives of St. Espen’s Gift in Radiora, where the plagued dead began to rise. Whole battalions perished in the struggle against the reanimated corpses of the workers from the Corpse Starch Factories.
Then, the unthinkable happened. Even the sacred Cardinal World of Alex Sistor was not spared, as an epidemic of sorcerous madness struck the pilgrim shanty towns. The maddened crowds laid siege to the holy sites of the planet, sending shockwaves of fear throughout the sector.
Adding to the chaos, supernatural manifestations appeared in the Nabala Astropath relay in the Gildas system, forcing the deployment of Space Marines strike forces against the cursed moon. The sector’s defenses stretched thin, the situation seemed to spiral out of control.
In this dark time, the rulers of Metallica saw one clear cause – the spread of organic life. An excerpt from the tech sermon of Dogmatic Giden Omar illustrated the fervor with which they held these convictions. They believed that the spread of organic life was the root cause of the malignant energetic cryptospectral emissions causing unholy discord in the domain of Omnia. They argued for the cessation and purification of all biological units, for purity, they said, was inherent only to the machine.
Despite the extreme views, the Fabricator General understood that such actions could threaten regional security. But when unnatural epidemics continued to surge, he felt compelled to take extreme measures. Activating secret void hangers near Metallica, he released three arcs of extermination, carrying forbidden archotech samples and manned by his most zealous Arc Magi.
These arcs headed straight for St. Espa’s Gift, unleashing their full power of radiation macro purge batteries upon the planet. Hive cities, half-filled with billions of staggering plague zombies, were turned into glowing lakes of slag, and the atmosphere filled with swirling ash. This shocking act drew widespread condemnation, yet it undeniably halted the spread of heresy on St. Espa’s Gift.
Despite these radical measures, omens and unnatural phenomena continued to spread. The Fabricator General, realizing the dire situation, issued additional edicts. Astropath pleas for help pierced the warp from the sanctum on Fovi Juliam. Entire maniples of Iron Skulls Titans were loaded onto ships, all planetary garrisons were brought to combat readiness, and all weapons pointed skyward in anticipation of an incoming terror.
What approached Metallica was monstrous and unclean – the united force of the Lord Discordant Akara Zad, acting as the right hand of Abidan, and the Plague Fleet of Typhus the Traveler, First Captain of the Death Guard. The storm was about to break loose, and in its wake, it threatened to leave a universe forever altered.
Stay tuned, dear readers. In the next chapter of our ongoing series, we will unveil the ensuing clash, where the might of Metallica meets the monstrous force of the Lord Discordant and the Plague Fleet. The Warhammer 40,000 universe is about to get a whole lot darker.
