The Rise of Metalica and Nurgle’s Plague Invasion – Part 7

The Plague Wars: A Tale of Metallica and the Nemesis Worm

In the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the Adeptus Mechanicus of Metallica clung to a steadfast belief: the purity of the machine could overcome all warp infections. They tirelessly worked to cleanse worlds from the fertile blights of Grandfather Nurgle, the Chaos God of plague and decay.

However, a sinister opportunity presented itself to Tyer, a devoted servant of Nurgle. He schemed to shatter the faith of Metallica by proving that even their pious mechanisms were susceptible to the plague god’s influence. Thus, a special strain of Nurgle’s plague was devised, a bioweapon capable of striking at the heart of the Metallica Empire. This devastating strain was aptly named the Nemesis Worm.

Tyer, infamous for his relentless and ruthless campaigns, assembled an invasion fleet. His army, however, was not a united front but rather a desperate coalition of war bands, each serving their own formidable champion. Many of these factions were as much bitter rivals as they were allies of convenience. Yet, Tyer’s reputation and the promise of victory drew them together.

With billions of mutants, plague cults, and infected Imperial Guardsmen at his disposal, Tyer intended to strike at Metallica. His terrifying flagship, the Terminus EST, led the charge, backed by the plague-ridden warships and death guard of Tyer’s formidable fleet.

But Tyer did not fight alone. The Imperious Lord Zire joined him, bringing with him a fleet of renegade warships, a vast number of demonic engines, and Chaos Knights supported by several war bands of the Black Legion. Moreover, they were joined by the revolting Titans of Legio Morbidus and over a dozen houses of renegade Knights, each adding even more power to the invasion.

As the attack began, it targeted three separate fronts in the Abelis sub-sector, specifically the Ramid, Alumx, and Duralium systems. This assault marked a period of intense warfare and despair that lasted from the 85th to the 890th cycle in Metallica chronology.

In this time of chaos, a traveler arrived and brought with him deep despair for the defenders of the Hammid system. The neighboring regions, usually vigilant in their warnings, were eerily silent. Unbeknownst to the defenders, their silence was due to a series of bloody raids by Duari pirates who had been ravaging the Ramid system for many cycles.

Amongst the turmoil, the notorious Leith Hesperax orchestrated a grand massacre while Marshall Tersan took command of operations against the Corsair in Herid, achieving a series of victories on the industrial world of Okum and in the bioluminescent fungal caves of Tartus.

Unfortunately, the Imperial defenders were left in a precarious situation when Lord Traxo Plasmax of the Death Guard discovered that his enemies were dangerously dispersed. A fatal miscalculation led to a catastrophic crossfire between the Imperial armies, amplifying the devastation caused by the Chaos invasion.

Even the gleaming desert hives of the Darrow outskirts were not spared. The Chaos forces, led by the Knights of the Blades of Terror, wreaked havoc on Imperial supply convoys and defense batteries. Meanwhile, Lord Traxo Plasmax, followed by his seven Victorium, marched towards the Agri-world of Torta, a beacon of hope in a galaxy consumed by war.

This was, indeed, a time of trials and tribulations for the Metallica Empire. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, the Adeptus Mechanicus remained steadfast in their faith. The purity of the machine, they believed, would eventually overcome the plague of Nurgle. The Nemesis Worm was a terrifying opponent, but the Mechanicus were not ones to back down from a challenge. The Plague Wars had only just begun.
