The Sabbat Worlds Crusade: The Blood Pact Threat – Part 2

In the waning years of the 41st millennium, the Sabbath worlds were teetering on the brink of chaos. The once stable territories of the Imperium had devolved into an unruly and perilous region of space, forcing the Imperium to reclassify this once prosperous province as an unstable, hazardous region. The seat of governance was relocated, leaving the Sabbath worlds to the mercy of chaos.

In the year 741, the Chivitas Imperialis, the symbol of imperial governance, was officially suspended in the region. The sector’s Lord Governor, fearing for his safety, was moved to a neighboring sector, effectively abandoning the Sabbath worlds. These worlds, once vibrant and flourishing under Imperial rule, were now dominions of chaos.

In the wake of this catastrophic loss, many called for a military expedition to liberate the beleaguered sector. Despite the calls for action, the higher echelons of the Imperial military were less than enthusiastic, viewing it as a costly and time-consuming endeavor.

Enter Lord Militant SLO. A seasoned commander, SLO had built a reputation on the back of a series of stunning victories in the Kanan Wars. His tactical genius and popularity within the Astra Militarum made him the ideal candidate to lead the crusade to liberate the Sabbath worlds. SLO was not just willing but eager to take up this monumental task, viewing the liberation of these lost territories as a sacred duty.

In the year 755, the High Lords of Terra finally bestowed upon SLO the title of Warmaster and the monumental task of leading the Imperial crusade. Despite the enormity of the task, his only fear was that his advanced age would prevent him from seeing the mission to its victorious completion.

Planning for the first phase of the advance into the Sabbath Worlds took nearly a year. The War Master and his senior staff painstakingly assembled an impressive force, comprised of almost a billion Imperial Guardsmen along with massive retinues of armor and artillery. Six chapters of Adeptus Astartes and Titan Legions from the Collegia Titanica also joined the ranks, bolstering the might of the Imperial Armada.

Operation Redrake was the codename for the first phase of the advance. The operation, named after the Redrake snake, a multi-headed predator known for its ability to attack several targets at once, was an ambitious plan. It involved simultaneous invasions on multiple fronts, aimed at securing a foothold in the Sabbath Worlds and catching the enemy unaware.

Leading the charge on several fronts were Lords Militant Hmel and Delany, Generals D and Aansa, and Lord Militant Cbon. Warmaster SLO himself would lead the assault on Formal Prime, the heart of the operation.

Operation Redrake was not just a military maneuver, it was a daring and audacious statement, a testament to the might of the Imperium. And at its helm was Warmaster SLO, a beacon of hope in the face of the spreading chaos. The stage was set for a monumental clash, with the fate of the Sabbath Worlds hanging in the balance.
