Unholy Inquisitors: Dark Secrets – Part 8

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are tales of heroism and horror, of courage and corruption, of faith and fanaticism. One such tale is the saga of Inquisitor Tyrus, a name that resonates with a blend of dread and reverence throughout the reaches of the galaxy. This tale is one of blood-soaked battles, demonic possession and the unending quest for purity in a universe steeped in chaos.

Inquisitor Tyrus’ story began in the regal setting of a royal court. The illustrious Inquisitor Cavonis was presenting an insignia to the king’s daughter. However, as the insignia was placed in her hand, her visage twisted into a sneering, demonic grimace. It was a horrifying transformation that Tyrus and his mentor had witnessed before – the demon Prince Koloth the Excoriator had returned.

Within moments, the courtroom was plunged into chaos. Koloth attacked Cavonis, inflicting a mortal wound on the venerable inquisitor. As Cavonis crumpled to the marble floor, the rest of the royal family revealed their true forms as horrific warp spawn. Tyrus, however, was not paralyzed by terror or grief. Seizing his mentor’s sword, he launched himself at the demons with a fury and wrath that spoke of his deep-seated desire for vengeance.

The ensuing battle was a chaotic whirlwind of steel and demonic flesh. Tyrus, despite his youth, dispatched the lesser demons with ease. He was then left alone with Koloth in the blood-soaked room, and the two old enemies clashed in a duel so fierce and powerful, it would have left any other combatant crushed. Even when the demon nearly struck him down, Tyrus’ exceptional willpower allowed him to stay on his feet and continue the fight. With a prayer on his lips, he struck the demon in the chest, extracting its still-beating heart and crushing it in his armored fist.

With his mentor dead and the royal family revealed as demonic spawn, Tyrus took it upon himself to purge the surrounding cities of potential corruption, ensuring the safety of the remaining citizens of Epsilon. His efforts did not go unnoticed. The Lords Inquisitors, whom Cavonis had served, made Tyrus a full-fledged inquisitor, even allowing him to restore his mentor’s armor so that he could continue his war against chaos.

Tyrus’ zeal made him a celebrity amongst the ranks of the Inquisition. His purges, driven by a fervent monodominant philosophy, became well-known throughout the galaxy. He could fan the flames of faith and unity among the people of any planet he purified, making him a beacon of hope and fear in equal measure.

Meanwhile, there is another stalwart figure in the annals of the Inquisition, Lord Inquisitor Toada Kotas, known as the High Protector of the Formosa sector. Kotas’ single-minded obsession has always been the destruction of demons. He is a hardliner who refuses to use warp forces in his battle, often clashing with those who he perceives as not pure enough. Even his own mentor fell to his relentless pursuit of purity.

One such instance occurred during an Inquisition conclave on the planet of the Gate. His mentor, Lord Inquisitor Ledian, presented a warp-tainted crystal, urging the conclave to study it. Kotas, however, stood up and smashed the crystal with his hammer, accusing his mentor of heresy and sorcery. He then executed Ledian on the spot, earning a mixture of shock and respect from the conclave. His actions led to his elevation to the rank of Lord Inquisitor and he took up the mantle of protector of the Formosa sector.

Kotas, unlike many of his colleagues, does not rely on Imperial forces, opting to maintain a personal army of fanatical cutthroats. As the High Protector, he commands thousands of followers from various strata of Imperial society in the Formosa sector. From his fortress on Nemesis Toera Toim Maas, he oversees his network, ever vigilant for reports of heresy or demonic activity.

In the bleak universe of Warhammer 40,000, the tales of Inquisitors Tyrus and Kotas serve as thrilling reminders of the ongoing battle against chaos. They are but two figures in the grand tapestry of the Inquisition, their stories echoing through the ages, resonating with the timeless themes of faith, purity, and the unending quest for a universe free of chaos and corruption.
