Title: The Enigmatic Exile of Ahriman: A Tale of Sorcery, Betrayal, and Eternal Thirst for Knowledge
Behold, the illustrious tale of Ahriman, the great sorcerer exiled from his home; an exile that made the universe tremble. This narrative is part of a multi-part series that delves into the intricate tapestry of Warhammer 40,000 lore. Today, we traverse the stormy seas of Ahriman’s saga, a story of relentless pursuit of forbidden truths and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
Since his Exile, Ahriman has roamed the galaxy, gladly leaving behind a past stained with terrible deeds. Over millennia, his quest for magical understanding led him to pilfer ancient grimoires, unearth hidden artifacts, and ensnare talented psychers from countless museums and private collections. His relentless search culminated in a 6,000-year hunt for the fabled AUM of Cacus.
With the AUM finally in his grasp, Ahriman laid siege to the Great Library, extracting its vast reservoir of wisdom before reducing it to ashes. His influence stretched across dozens of worlds, where he was revered as a fiery deity, shattering the ancient tenets of truth with a wave of his hand. Not content with the mundane confines of reality, he traversed the luminous expanses of the webway, leading a grand army of Thousand Sons against Comar and the Aari of the Craftworld.
Despite his collection of talismans, psy-weapons, amulets, and grimoires rivaling that of Magnus, Ahriman’s thirst for knowledge remained unslaked. Recently, he has focused his might on uncovering the mythical Black Library of the Eldari, aiming to seize its legendary tomes and become the sole possessor of knowledge about Chaos.
As the 13th Black Crusade dawned, Ahriman was summoned by Magnus to the Planet of the Sorcerers. Reunited, they waged war against the despised Space Wolves in the Siege of the Fenris system, all while seeking the elusive Black Library.
Despite his might and cunning, Ahriman’s campaign to plunder the rich libraries of the world of Arcadian was thwarted by the combined efforts of the Blood Ravens and the Harlequins. His secondary plan involving the captured Inquisitor Bronislaw Chevak also fell short, leading to his expulsion from the webway.
However, Ahriman is not one to be easily deterred. His ensuing conflict with the Inari led to an intriguing offer from Iin – a chance to reverse the Rubric spell and resurrect his lost brothers. Ahriman, driven by the possibility of redemption, agreed to this pact, only to be betrayed once more.
Despite the sting of betrayal, Ahriman’s resolve remained unbroken. Following the formation of the Great Rift, he began gathering his forces, setting his sights on the dark city of the Eldari – the terrifying Komra.
Ahriman’s tale is a testament to his unyielding pursuit of knowledge and power, a testament that resounds throughout the cosmos. As we delve further into his narrative in future installments, we must hope that his past betrayals can be forgiven, and his thirst for knowledge will lead him to redemption rather than destruction.
