In the world of Warhammer 40,000, where the grim dark future is filled with nothing but war, there are tales of epic battles, heroic acts, and devastating defeats that would make any sci-fi fan’s heart race. Today, we delve into the crucible of a conflict that shook the cosmos – the Third War for Armageddon.
Picture the chapter keep on Ferga, a fortress of stoic resolution amidst the stars. It is here that the Black Templars, carrying an unblemished battle record, gathered under the banner of their leader, High Marshall Hbre. Three Crusades of these indomitable warriors assembled, observing prayers and devotions to the Emperor before setting course for the Segmentum Solar.
Their destination? The Armageddon system, where Hbre was appointed the overall commander of the assembled Adeptus Astartes Fleet. His extensive naval experience had earned him the respect of several different chapters, marshalling a force to be reckoned with.
While Hbre led the war in orbit, his trusted Marshalls Ricard and Aml Rich led their Crusades to the surface of Armageddon. The battles were fierce, with Hbre spearheading numerous boarding actions against the menacing Ork space hulks. Working in tandem with Admiral Paro’s Imperial Navy Battle Fleet, they crippled the Ork invasion, causing the space hulk – believed to be Gaj Kul’s flagship – to retreat.
Hbre swore a solemn oath to pursue the Ork Warlord. Commissar Yarik, the hero of Armageddon, requested the honor of accompanying the Black Templars in their quest. Hbre, holding the venerable Commissar in high regard, granted his request. Together, they pursued Gazul across the galaxy, cornering his flagship and killing Reer. However, Gazul managed to escape into the warp, setting the stage for his great war in the year 930.
The forces of the notorious Nekron Overlord, Imotech the Storm Lord, descended upon the Imperial ice world of Schrodinger 7. The Necrons forced the local defenders to seek refuge in the labyrinthine Cryonite mines, but not before a distress call was sent out. Answering the call was a Black Templars Strike Force, led by Marshall Hbre.
Despite Hbre’s attempts at a devastating alpha strike, the Templars were met with meticulously planned Necron ambushes. The battle raged in the frozen caverns, with both sides suffering heavy losses. Eventually, Hbre faced off against Imotech in single combat. Fueled by hatred for the Xenos, Hbre dealt Imotech a dozen devastating blows. However, each time, the Necron’s living Necrodermis quickly repaired the damage.
Exhausted and wounded, Hbre collapsed under the relentless assault of the Necron Lord. In a final act of humiliation, Imotech severed Hbre’s right hand and cast him off an ice bridge. The surviving Templars rallied to their fallen Marshall’s side and made a fighting retreat, leaving Schrodinger 7 in the Storm Lord’s control.
However, the tale doesn’t end here. Hbre swore a vow of vengeance against the Necrons, particularly targeting Imotech. The opportunity to fulfill his oath came soon after, when his fleet detected Necron activity near the world of Davat. Eager for retribution, Hbre led an assault on the Necron tomb ship, the Inevitable Conqueror. Yet, Imotech managed to teleport himself and his most valuable assets away, leaving Hbre with nothing but the satisfaction of ensuring the total destruction of the Inevitable Conqueror.
Stay tuned, faithful followers of the Emperor, as we continue to chronicle these epic tales in our multi-part series. Will Hbre fulfill his oath? Will the Black Templars emerge victorious? Only time – and the Emperor’s will – can tell. Until next time, keep the faith and remember: In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
