The lore of Warhammer 40,000 is vast and complex, filled with tales of epic battles, heroic sacrifices, and bitter rivalries. Today, we delve into the gripping tale of a fervent follower of Sigismond, Magnic, and his personal crusade against the Iron Warriors.
Magnic was a Warsmith, a high-ranking member of the Black Templars, a warrior order formed during the Second Founding. His brother, Calator, served on the opposing side, igniting a fiery feud that would span centuries. Magnic’s contemporaries often described him as emotionally unstable, his fervor surpassing even the intense fanaticism characteristic of the Black Templars. This was attributed to the fact that he seldom rested, often ignoring the pleas of his loyal castellan, Rstan, to take a breather.
The stage was set for a climactic showdown between the two brothers, but fate had other plans. Their duel was interrupted by an unexpected third party – a massive horde of Orcs. The brothers, once best of friends, were forced to put aside their differences to fend off the green tide. In the ensuing Battle of Vanis, Magnic made the ultimate sacrifice. Upon his cruiser, the Obsidian Sky, he commanded a ramming maneuver against the nearest Orc vessel, taking as many enemies as he could with him into the fiery abyss.
Yet, the tale doesn’t end here. The Ultramarines also had their champion, AG Grippa, a venerable veteran who served under Captain Agon in the first company. He too met a tragic end at the hands of the Xenos during the awakening of the Necrons on Damnos. Grippa, having managed to slay the Necron Overlord known as Immortal, stood tall amidst the chaos, inspiring his fellow defenders with his indomitable spirit. His demise came as he single-handedly battled a Necron Monolith at the city gates, sacrificing himself to ensure the evacuation of his brothers and the civilians they swore to protect.
In a final tribute, we remember Deir and Kicon, a member of the Adeptus Custodes. He was among the finest warriors in the Great Crusade, his legend echoing throughout the hallowed halls of history. Poisoned by a demon during a battle alongside the Blood Angels, he continued the fight, undeterred even as his flesh peeled from his bones. After 18 grueling hours, he was placed into stasis, only to awaken years later to partake in the Solar War and the Siege of Terra. His spirit, encased within the dreadnought Telemon, stood as a shining beacon of determination and valor, etching his story into the annals of Warhammer 40,000 lore.
