Officio Assassinorum – Far more deadly than even the Spacemarines – Part 7

Blog Post Title: “Imperial Retribution & Vengeance: A Sinister Unfolding within the Imperium”

In the grim darkness of the far future, the Imperium of Man is a realm fraught with peril, intrigue, and shadowy machinations. Amidst the ceaseless wars and the fickle dance of power, one particular period stands out, marked by the wrath of Imperial retribution, the Wars of Vengeance, and a dark mystery surrounding the Officio Assassinorum. This is where our tale begins.

In the year 4288 M36, during a troubled era that saw former servants of the Emperor spread corruption throughout the Imperium, a single autopsy report brought the entire realm to a standstill. The subject, henceforth known as ‘Subject Alpha,’ bore two punctured wounds, 13mm in diameter, suggesting a close-range attack with low-velocity projectiles. The lack of exit wounds, bullet fragments, burns, or post-mortem bruising ruled out energy weapons, conventional bullets, or third-party interventions, painting a grim picture of Alpha’s death – a sudden, brutal end caused by severe trauma to the brain and heart.

The death of the traitorous Goge Vandire, and the end of the Wars of Apostasy, saw the Imperial Palace once again reverberate with the echoes of battle. This time, the foe was far more sinister- the Officio Assassinorum. For reasons unknown, someone sealed all exits and entrances within the Emperor’s halls, trapping many officials who could only hunker down and listen to the devastating explosions and gunfire.

The apex of this tumultuous period was the death of the Grand Master of the Assassins, a shocking incident that sparked a convoluted investigation. An anonymous package found its way to the Inquisition, complete with a seal ring identical to those worn by the Grand Masters and a document that claimed the ring found on the deceased was a forgery. The true ring, it claimed, should have held an info crystal, not a ruby. The startling truth was revealed – the ring on the deceased did contain an info crystal, casting a pall of doubt over the identity of the buried individual.

The info crystal held codes to the Adeptus Administratum Vault, a repository of the Imperium’s most sinister secrets. The monumental task of unearthing even one of these secrets led us deep into the underground chambers of the hive city. After weeks of laborious search by servitors, the vault was discovered, its entrance buried under layers of rubble.

Within the vault lay another body, preserved under the protection of a stasis field. Genetic tests revealed that the remains did not belong to the Grand Master, adding layers to the mystery. Beside the corpse, a document penned by the true leader of the Officio Assassinorum lay, hinting at widespread corruption within the assassination Bureau.

As we delve deeper into this dangerous investigation, the mystery continues to intertwine, leaving us with more questions than answers. Who was the real Grand Master? Who sent the package that led us to this discovery? And what more secrets does the info crystal hold? As we continue to unravel this tale, one thing is certain – the truth promises to be even more sinister than we can imagine. Stay tuned for the next installment of this multi-part series, where we dive deeper into the hidden depths of the Imperium’s darkest secrets.
