The Drukhari – Art of Cruelty – Part 6

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war… and the Dark Eldar, or Drukhari as they are known in their native tongue, are no strangers to this reality. Unhindered by sentimentality or conventional morality, they are a faction that thrives in the chaos of Warhammer 40k. Today, we delve into the vast repertoire of their military might, and the intriguing figure that holds the reigns of their society, the Supreme Overlord, Asdrubael Vect.

Our story begins with the Tantalus, a formidable war machine that has been appearing increasingly in various Drukhari fleets. The Tantalus is essentially an improved version of the Raider, boasting a split deck and reinforced engines that allow it to maintain speed despite its increased dimensions. Its heavier guns and blades further augment its combat power, making it a force to reckon with on the battlefield.

But what about the Dark Eldar’s mode of transport? Enter the Venom, fast and deadly grav bikes that carry entire squads of bloodthirsty warriors. These bikes are piloted by professionals with skills so exceptional they can maneuver through enemy fire with ease, aided by holographic flicker field generators that baffle adversary radars. Once they’ve deployed their deadly passengers, Venoms provide supporting fire, making them a favorite among the Drukhari nobility.

Now, let’s take to the skies with the Razorwing Jetfighter, a Drukhari aircraft that stands testament to the faction’s technological prowess. Despite being smaller than other races’ aircraft, the Razorwing is no less deadly. It’s armed with twin splinter rifles, two dark lances, and four types of missiles – necrotoxin, shatterfield, and monoscythe missiles, each with its own devastating effect.

The Drukhari aviation does not stop at jetfighters. Voidraven Bombers, though considered slower among pilots, are equipped with an array of formidable weapons, including a unique implosion missile. This missile generates a field causing molecular dissonance, turning its victims literally inside out. The Voidraven’s most lethal weapon is the void mine, which eradicates everything within its radius from reality.

The Drukhari also have another type of combat aircraft, the Raven Fighter – a butcher’s cleaver amidst the elegant daggers of the Razorwing and Voidraven. Its twin fragmentation cannons and shadow spears wreak havoc among enemy ranks, making it a formidable component of the Drukhari’s air force.

However, the elegance and power of the Drukhari’s military tech wouldn’t be fully utilized without a leader to guide their actions. The most prominent figure in Dark Eldar society is none other than Supreme Overlord Asdrubael Vect. His rise to power is as murky as it is intriguing, with tales of cunning, treachery, and a sharp mind that saw him ascend from slave to ruler. Whether these tales are true or merely self-aggrandizing fabrications remains a mystery, much like the character himself.

As we continue to explore the dark world of the Drukhari in this multi-part series, it’s clear that their military prowess and the enigmatic leadership of Asdrubael Vect make them a formidable faction in the Warhammer 40k universe.
