The Origins of Chaos – Part 7

In the annals of Warhammer 40,000 lore, a remarkable saga unfolds – the tale of a Fallen Primarch, his insatiable quest for power, and the devastating wars it ignited. Our narrative is set in a universe where a mighty emperor failed to earn the worship of his subjects, prompting them to seek more ancient and potent forces. Upon discovering the true essence of the warp, this Fallen Primarch was eager to share his revelation with the galaxy, but a character named Arabus warned him to tread carefully.

Arabus, a character of intrigue and mystery, played a pivotal role in setting the stage for the largest war in the Imperium, a conflict that drenched the entire realm in the blood of its denizens. His first move was to deceive the warrior Horus by faking an injury, a ruse that led Horus to the serpent priests of Davin. Arabus, both the puppeteer and puppet, was instrumental in orchestrating the downfall of everything the emperor stood for. This intriguing character served as a pawn in the grand scheme of the warp forces.

In the ensuing chaos, the Black Legion rose under the command of Ezekiah Abaddon. This former 16th Legion, originally known as the Moon Wolves, adopted the name Sons of Horus to honor their Primarch upon his promotion to Warrior. However, following their defeat on Terra, the legion, shamed and disgraced, rebranded themselves as the Black Legion.

Under the leadership of Abaddon, the once illustrious warriors were scattered across the galaxy, operating as small factions only united by the call of their commander for another Black Crusade. This formidable character, renowned as Abaddon the Despoiler, deserves a special mention.

Abaddon, a mighty warrior, had always fought to expand and strengthen the Imperium of Humanity. During the days of the Crusade, he served as the first captain of the Moon Wolves, leading the charge on countless planets to free them from Xenos or bring humans back into the Imperial fold. Abaddon’s love for his Primarch was only equalled by his vehement hatred for the Xenos. He viewed Horus as a god and saw himself as his favored son.

Interestingly, Abaddon was rumored to be a clone of Horus, a product of the Emperor’s early experiments to recreate the Primarch. When the Emperor renamed the Moon Wolves as Sons of Horus, Abaddon was filled with pride. His loyalty to Horus was unwavering, and when Horus fell, Abaddon vowed to avenge him by declaring war on the entire Imperium.

Now, Abaddon, the Chaos Warrior, stands as the informal leader uniting all Chaos Space Marines and other destructive forces for the Black Crusades, aiming to overthrow the Imperium of Man and seize power. The question remains – will he succeed in his quest or find himself a mere pawn in the hands of the Warp Gods, destined for death on the battlefield? As we delve deeper into this multi-part series, only time will tell.
