Title: Anarchy in Ultramar: The Assault on Cal and Chaos Unleashed
In the darkest corners of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, on the forlorn planet of Cal in Ultramar, a daunting saga was penned in blood and chaos. The Ultramarines, the paragons of the Astartes, found themselves on the backfoot, scrambling for a reorganisation and rearmament amidst an onslaught led by the Word Bearers’ Primarch, Lorgar.
Enter Angru, the epitome of fury, the commander of the Word Bearers’ rapid assault forces. Under his iron-clad fist, the frontline reserve thrived, bolstered by a considerable ensemble of Assault Marines led by his steadfast deputy, Matari. As the battle raged on, the Tactical Marines, under the command of Lieutenant Dra, and Devastators commanded by Angell, provided a wall of suppressive fire, methodically halting the Ultramarines’ advance. Meanwhile, the unholy brotherhood indulged in the macabre, sacrificing slaves to summon grotesque demons from the warp.
The dark forces of chaos had found their champion in Angru. Marked as Chosen, he was bestowed with unholy protection, his wounds miraculously healed when the Warp’s fickle favor chose to bless him. But the Ultramarines were not to be underestimated. With the fall of Horus and the reinforcement of Ultramarines, the Word Bearers were forced into a retreat, withdrawing from Ultramar and seeking refuge in the planets of Curus, Galmar and the vicinity of the Eye of Terror.
The retreat, however, was not a unanimous decision. Angru, fuelled by his unending thirst for revenge and chaos, desired to continue the war, to paint the Imperium red with the blood of its unfortunate citizens. But Draas, his once trusted lieutenant, advised caution. He saw the death of the war master as a time for unity, a period to gather strength for the next assault. This counsel was met with a tirade of accusations from Angru, ultimately leading to Draas’s expulsion.
Relegated but not defeated, Draas assembled his own warband, turning his gaze towards the Imperial planets within the Eye of Terror. His offer was straightforward – renounce the Emperor’s lies and embrace the dark gods or perish. Many chose the latter, but just as many discarded their loyalty to the Emperor, accepting Draas’s gift of eternal damnation. Thus, Draas earned his ominous title, the Crimson Pilgrim.
As Draas’s influence grew, Angru spiraled further into the abyss of madness. His transformation into a demonic entity was nearing its completion when the 13th Black Crusade of Abdon was launched. Ironically, it was during this peak of his power that Angru lost favor with the ruinous powers. Bereft of sanity, he found himself out of favor, and in a twist of fate, Draas seized power over his forces.
The crimson tides of chaos ebbed and flowed, and amidst the tumult, the demon princes of Khorne, emerged. These embodiments of slaughter, with their vast, muscular, and wrathful forms, were among the most fearsome minions of the dark gods. Their fury was so potent that the ground beneath them blackened, and the heavens wept with blood rain. These blood princes, the lords of bones, were the epitome of brute strength and terror on the battlefield, wielding gargantuan weapons or simply crushing their foes with unadulterated malice and dreadfully long claws.
As the saga of Ultramar continues to unfold, the battle lines are drawn, alliances are tested, and chaos reigns supreme. The Crimson Pilgrim and his force of renegades now stand poised to unleash further havoc in the name of the dark gods. Will the Ultramarines rise to the challenge, or will the Imperium crumble under the weight of its own sins? The tale is yet to be told.
