Title: The Fall of Cadia – The Last Stand and The Dawn of New Hope
In the grim and dark universe of Warhammer 40,000, heroes are born in the fires of conflict, their deeds echoing through the annals of time. Today, we delve into the harrowing tale of the fall of Cadia and the unyielding resolve of its defenders.
On the precipice of despair, the planet’s defenders stood resolute. Their beloved commander, who had saved their lives more than once, who was as much a father as a leader, instilled in them an unyielding determination. They vowed to reclaim The Landing field from the Heretics and hold back the enemy onslaught while their allies readied for the final departure.
The wounded Lord Castellan, gazing up at the sky, watched as shuttles carrying the remnants of Cadian soldiers, Black Templars, Skarri Dark Angels, and Space Wolves disappeared into the burning heavens. The battle raged on, the odds stacked against them, yet none faltered. The Castellan, bleeding yet unbowed, drew a pistol, raising it towards the sky. His rallying cry echoed across the battlefield, “Cadia stands!” The soldiers echoed back, their voices a defiant roar against the encroaching darkness.
As the dust settled, an Iron Giant appeared before the Castellan, offering him the gift of eternity. Yet, this was the last thing the legendary Lord Castellan of Cadia heard before darkness swallowed him.
Meanwhile, the beleaguered Mechanicus Fleet raced against time and the relentless pursuit of the Chaos Armada. The fallen Cadia was now consumed by the Eye of Terror, and the fleet had lost nine of their twenty-five ships, leaving only 16 ships to carry the last two and a half million Cadians.
Belisarius, bearing the weight of those lives and his unfulfilled ancient promise, gave his last epic battle against the traitors near Clus, an icy moon. Despite their fierce resistance, the Iron Revenant, shielding the shuttles, was disintegrating under the return salvos of thousands of guns. Yet, it did not surrender, holding back Abaddon’s Armada, ensuring the survivors’ evacuations to the planet’s surface.
In the icy wastelands of Clus, Celestine’s promise of salvation seemed like a hollow whisper. Yet, the skies above Clus opened, revealing patterns recognized by K as entrances into the webway. The Eldar, both from the Craftworlds and their dark kin, appeared between the ranks of the Imperials and the forces of Chaos. Their sudden arrival, led by an ornate lady and a warrior in crimson armor, surprised even the Ark Magos.
Among them were the Harlequins, including Belisarius’s longtime ally. As she pointed towards the open portal, Belisarius, trusting her implicitly, led the remaining survivors into the unknown, but towards salvation.
Thus marked the end of the first chapter of the approaching Gathering Storm, a tale of humanity’s valor in the face of true evil. A tale of the fall of Cadia, and the resounding echo of Lord Castellan’s cry, “Cadia stands!” across countless battlefields.
In our next installment, we shall continue to explore the aftermath of Cadia’s fall and the brave journey of the survivors as they navigate the treacherous and uncertain paths of the webway. Stay tuned, fellow lore seekers, for the saga is far from over.
