Title: “Warriors of Ren: The Crimson Fists, Their Traditions, and Their Battles”
In the heart of the galaxy, the world of Ren has become an invaluable asset to the warrior brotherhood known as the Crimson Fists. Its close proximity to the feral world of Blackwat, the chapter’s primary recruitment source, makes it an ideal training ground for the upcoming generation of space marines.
Every year, the bravest young men of Blackwat are invited to the world of Ren to attend the Annual Bloodfist Festival. It’s a test of courage and strength, where they compete for the ultimate honor: the opportunity to join the ranks of the mighty warriors from the stars. The festival is a trial by fire, culminating in the Dragon Rite. During this rite, each aspirant must hunt and kill a ferocious spiked swamp dragon with nothing but their bare hands. The survival rate is low, but this ensures that only the very best representatives of the planet’s population are recruited into the chapter.
The Bloodfist Festival, however, is far from the only tradition of the Crimson Fists. They also observe the Founding Day of the chapter, a solemn occasion where all available members gather in their Fortress Monastery. Those who are on far-flung missions conduct private ceremonies. Excerpts from the works of Alexis Polu and Rogal Dorn are read aloud, followed by individual members recounting tales from both the past and recent events. This ritual serves as a reminder of the labors of their ancestors and the lessons their stories offer.
During the Founding Day celebrations, a unique ritual known as the ‘Miracle of Blood’ is performed by a group of 20 chaplains, collectively known as the Cium. They transform a small portion of Rogal Dorn’s dried blood into liquid, a symbolic testament to the lost Primarch’s enduring spiritual presence.
The Crimson Fists also have a custom of collecting xenos bones, transforming them into talismans and attaching them to their armor as a reminder of their valor in combat. These talismans, whether they be bones, skulls, or fragments of torn enemy banners, can enrage a greenskin and provoke aggressive, reckless actions in battle.
Another unique tradition is the secretive training of the Librarians. The extent to which they deviate from the Codex Aartis is unknown, but the psykers of the Crimson Fists possess exceptional abilities. Their hatred of xenos is projected as tangible energy, causing intense pain to non-humans. The librarians can also enhance close combat attacks and temper their bodies and spirits, allowing them to fight on despite mortal wounds and exhaustion.
In the year 978 of the 39th Millennium, the ruler of the Craftworld of Yandan issued an ultimatum to the ruler of the world Tula, demanding all human inhabitants leave the planet within a month. However, the Crimson Fists stood their ground. When the xenos army arrived a month later, they found themselves face-to-face with the indomitable force of the Crimson Fists. The ensuing battle saw heavy losses for the xenos, who barely managed to escape the wrath of the Astartes.
The saga of the Crimson Fists is a tale of honor, courage, and relentless determination. Their unique traditions, their unfaltering resolve, and their unwavering commitment to their mission are what make them one of the most revered chapters in the Imperium. And as we turn the pages of history, we see that their story is far from over.
