Exploring the Eye of Terror – Part 12

Title: The Unraveling Chaos: Tale of Iron Drakes and Sentinels

Welcome back, fellow lore enthusiasts, to another installment of our multi-part series diving deep into the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we take a look at the Iron Drakes’ bitter end and the Sentinels’ encounter with the unthinkable.

The Iron Drakes, once proud protectors of the Imperium, found themselves in a dire situation. Outnumbered, outgunned, and facing the inescapable specter of extinction, they surrendered, hoping their victors would show mercy. But mercy in the 41st Millennium is a rare commodity. The remaining Drakes were transformed into the Warriors of Nurgle, baptized in filth as the Grey Death, their sole purpose – to spread the plague among the stars.

Meanwhile, the Sentinels, brothers-in-arms to the Iron Drakes, detected a presence on the planet Oenis. The surface was suspiciously soft, and the distant mountains bore an uncanny resemblance to a human face. A shiver ran down their spines as they realized they had set foot on a daemon world, a world alive and monstrous. An ob Beast Man, curled into a ball, was the planet they had dared to invade.

Despite the dread that filled their hearts, the Sentinels pressed on. They discovered a grotesque scene – goat-headed hedonists frolicking among the planet’s hair-like trees. The sight was enough to turn even the most hardened Space Marine’s stomach. But the Sentinels were stalwart. They began their extermination, their bolters singing songs of death and retribution. The ensuing battle was brutal, with noise marines joining the fray, their sonic weaponry creating a symphony of destruction.

However, the commotion roused the sleeping Beast Man. With a swift, mighty hand, he flung the warriors into an esophageal waterfall, altering them beyond recognition. The once noble Sentinels were transformed into cannibals, the Corpus Brethren, their sanity lost in the depths of their new, depraved cravings.

Simultaneously, the Knights Excelsia found themselves in a precarious situation in the Void Galar. Navigating through gear-laden domes, toothed factories, and spiral staircases, they were ambushed by serpent-headed gargoyles, demonic machines, and torrents of lava defying gravity. Their struggle to escape turned into a nightmare when they fell into a trap set by the Warpsmith Valad, who unleashed an electricity-devouring demon. The Marines found themselves fighting their own ship, its machine spirits incited to rebellion.

In the Cadian sector, a new threat emerged, the Magma Hounds, another chaotic warband spreading destruction. The Brothers of the Anvil, landing on Vel 4, fell into an ambush set by the remnants of an Eldar Empire. The survivors were sent to the gladiatorial arenas of Comra, their escape leading to a mindless killing spree.

These tales of tribulation and torment are just the tip of the iceberg. The Great Exeresis Library could be filled twice over with the stories of the Condemned. Unfortunately, we know so little about the outcomes of the expeditions into the void. There are whispers that survivors returned from the warp, their claims of St. Basil being a false idol taken seriously only after lengthy checks for chaos corruption.

In our next entry, we will continue to unravel the mysteries of the 42nd Millennium, seeking truth in the shadows of the grimdark universe. Until then, remember: in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
