Grim Realities of Life Outside the Imperium – Part 9

Title: “A Dive into the Chaotic Lives of the Khorne Followers and the Greenskins: The Warhammer 40,000 Series”

Welcome back to our multi-part exploration of the Warhammer 40,000 lore. Today, we delve into the thrilling lives of the Khorne Followers and the Greenskins. As we traverse the grim darkness of the far future, we will unearth the horrifying realities of these worshippers of chaos and the persistently resilient Orcs, respectively.

Let’s start with the Khorne Followers. These beings exist on the precipice of dread and terror, their lives in horrifying servitude to their masters. To them, free will is not an option; they live and die at the command of their lords. Even the aspect of reproduction has been technicalized, with no regard for their personal opinions.

The Khorne Followers exist in barely livable conditions fraught with unsanitary environments and lack of supply. Yet, these conditions, rather than breaking them, contribute to their terrifying appearance. They adorn themselves with rotting severed limbs, noses, and ears, their faces smeared with blood, and their bodies cloaked in brass and gold masks. The very stench of these blood God’s warriors is enough to induce terror, with diseases as their constant companions.

However, their loyalty lies solely with chaos, despite Khorne’s disdain for magic. They remain susceptible to the corrupting flows of the warp and mutations, a common occurrence among the servants of the Blood God. Their existence is fleeting, with death looming around the corner, making their life a constant battle with uncertainty.

Transitioning from the grim realities of the Khorne followers, we turn our attention to the unpredictable and resilient Greenskins. Over the span of millions of years, the galaxy has birthed many species and civilizations, each unique in their development. Among the surviving species, none are more wild and ubiquitous than the Greenskins.

Labelled as ‘the green plague’ by humans, the Orcs have proven to be one of humanity’s most pressing issues for millennia. They bring devastation wherever they appear, often engaging in war for the sheer sake of it. Despite their aggressive nature, they abide by the laws of the real world.

However, even in periods of peace, a true Orc will always find an opponent to brawl with. The Greenskins’ way of life, from an outsider’s perspective, seems filled with barbarism and savagery. But from an Orc’s viewpoint, the civilized outsiders appear foolish, wasting their time on trivialities.

The life of a typical Orc when not engaged in battle is spent in the company of aggressive comrades, sharing the same interests. These interests, you ask? Find an enemy, eliminate the enemy, and in the process, if lucky, seize a prized loot, and then move onto the next adversary.

Even the most aggressive Orc cannot spend every moment in endless battle, no matter how much it would like to. Yet, the tale of the renowned Orc warlord, Tusker the Demon Killer, suggests that a life spent in constant battle is not an unattainable goal for the Greenskins.

In the end, whether it’s the Khorne Followers or the Greenskins, their lives are dictated by their insatiable thirst for battle. Unfolding under the banner of chaos or the green plague, their existence is a stark reminder of the grim, dark future that the Warhammer 40,000 universe portrays. Stay tuned for more thrilling journey into the lore of Warhammer 40,000.
