Title: The Dawn of the Primaris: A Story of the 41st Millennium
In the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, the aftermath of the 13th Black Crusade had plunged the Imperium into a nightmare: The Noctis Aeterna. The Great Rift had torn the galaxy asunder, and in this chaos, the avenging son, Roboute Guilliman, made a monumental decision. He commanded Archmagos Belisarius Cawl to cease his 10,000 years of labor, thus marking the inception of the Ultima Founding and the awakening of the first waves of primaris Space Marines.
The timing could not have been more critical. As these new Space Marines emerged from beneath the Martian surface, a great host of daemons, unleashed by Khorne, the Blood God, descended upon Holy Terra. Their unholy mission: to claim the Emperor’s skull. However, they were met with fierce resistance from Guilliman and the armies of Terra, ultimately leading to their destruction at the Battle of Lion’s Gate.
As the galaxy continued to reel from the monumental changes, Guilliman was already organizing the Indomitus Crusade in the 999th year of the 41st Millennium. Fearing for his realm of Ultramar, much of the remaining task force of Ultramarines and their successor chapters were sent to safeguard it. Among them were the first primaris Ultramarines, newly emerged from Cawl’s secret vaults.
While steering this small armada, dubbed Fleet Avenger, Captain Cato Sicarius encountered warp storms of a magnitude unseen since the Age of Strife. The fleet was scattered, each voidship forced to find its own path back to Macragge. Amidst this chaos, Sicarius’s own strike cruiser, the Emperor’s Will, was lost in the warp, its last transmission hinting at a grim fate: “They have breached the hull. They are here.”
As the 41st Millennium neared its end, the galaxy was bisected by the Great Rift. Warp storms unleashed unholy abominations into real space in unprecedented numbers, and warp travel became hazardous beyond measure. Many Imperial worlds were left isolated, forced to rely on their own defenses. Despite this, the Ultramarines stood steadfast in their duty to defend the Emperor’s Realm.
The Indomitus Crusade, spearheaded by the newly founded primaris Space Marines, and supported by the Adeptus Custodes, Adeptus Sororitas, Sisters of Silence, and battle groups of the Astra Militarum and Imperial Navy, spread out from Terra to take the fight to the enemy. They brought not only reinforcements, but also the technology and Magos Biologis adepts necessary for each chapter to create their own primaris battle brothers.
As the Crusade ventured further into war-torn Imperial space, the Ultramarines and their successors fought on countless battlefronts against numerous terrible foes. From this era of strife and war, a prophetic vision emerged, foreseeing Marneus Calgar leading a force of Ultramarines to Vigilus. The story of the 41st Millennium continues to unfold, with the dawn of the primaris promising a new chapter in the history of the Imperium.
