Lorgar Aurelian – Architect of the Horus Heresy – Part 3

In the grim darkness of the far future, there lies a tale of faith, rebellion, and divine intervention. This is the chronicle of Lorgar Aurelian, the Golden Primarch, and how his faith shaped a world, and later, the entire galaxy.

Lorgar was not always the bearer of the Word. His journey began on the harsh world of Colchis, where he was raised by Kor Phaeron, an influential priest who recognized the Primarch’s divine gifts. Phaeron, despite his inner doubts, bestowed the title of ‘the Bearer of the Word’ upon Lorgar, entrusting him with the prophecy of a single, omnipotent god’s imminent arrival.

The Golden Primarch did not disappoint. He embarked on a mission to liberate the countless slaves of Colchis, winning their loyalty and devotion. His fame spread like a wildfire, as did the faith he preached. City after city fell, not to the might of his army, but to the power of his words. Even the capital city of Varestus surrendered willingly, offering up the Ecclesiarchy and the Covenant hierarchs in a show of newfound faith.

Reinforced by the liberated and faithful, Lorgar’s army grew stronger, and the remaining parts of Colchis came under his divine influence swiftly. His soldiers, convinced of their Primarch’s divine mandate, willingly laid down their lives in the name of the one God, exterminating all who refused to forsake the old faith.

However, not all submitted so willingly. The last bastion of resistance lay behind the impenetrable force of a Dark Age Storm generator. Undeterred, Lorgar entered the storm alone, and with divine intervention calmed it, paving a path for his army. The miracle solidified his divine status among the locals and the last city fell, uniting the world under his dominion.

Lorgar’s ascension to power marked a turning point in Colchis’s history. He appointed his mentor, Kor Phaeron, as the high priest and declared that their divine mission was yet to be fulfilled. His prophecy of the imminent arrival of the one God and his cyclopean companion captivated the minds of his followers, turning them away from the old faith.

However, this shift in belief did not come without resistance. The old and new faiths clashed, resulting in the Wars of Secession that lasted six gruelling standard years. But faith in Lorgar and his one God prevailed. The Golden Primarch captured the main Temple of the Covenant in Varestus, ending the old faith’s influence once and for all.

The aftermath was bloody. The most devoted followers of Lorgar conducted a Great Purge, eliminating those who clung to the old faith. Nearly a third of Colchis’s population was annihilated in the conflict. The High Priest declared that the new God, known by the name of the Emperor, would arrive on Colchis in less than a year.

And arrive he did. As Lorgar had foreseen, the Great Crusade reached Colchis in the year 857 of the 30th Millennium, further solidifying the faith in the Primarch’s prophecy. The Emperor himself, alongside Magnus the Red and two tactical squads of the Thousand Sons, set foot on the planet. Lorgar knelt before the Emperor, and his example was followed by the entire world.

After the celebrations, the Emperor ordered Lorgar to take his best warriors and join the 17th Legion, the Imperial Heralds. The Golden Primarch accepted the commission, vowing to spread faith in the God-Emperor to every planet in the galaxy. Despite the atheistic doctrines of the Imperial Truth, Lorgar’s deeply rooted religious beliefs did not waiver. He left trusted regents to govern Colchis in his absence and embarked on the Great Crusade, ready to observe the will of the God-Emperor.

This was only the beginning of Lorgar’s journey, a tale steeped in faith, rebellion, and divine intervention. He would go on to shape the galaxy in ways unimaginable, his faith in the God-Emperor unwavering, even in the face of grim darkness.
