Story of Ragnar Blackmane – Part 13

Title: The Shadow Planet Saga: A Warhammer 40,000 Tale

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. And in this war, the stakes are high! We continue our journey in a multi-part series, dwelling into the fierce battle that unfolded on the enigmatic Shadow Planet.

A single Thunderhawk, under the protective cloak of the Fist of Russ, was dispatched with a critical mission – to stealthily infiltrate the planet. The plan, however, was met with resistance. Chaos Fighters pursued the Thunderhawk relentlessly while the Fist of Russ met its end in a dazzling, fiery spectacle. Despite the fierce pursuit, the Thunderhawk maneuvered into the Shadow Planet’s atmosphere, shaking off its pursuers in a steep dive. The Chaos Fighters could not maintain the breakneck speed within the atmosphere, giving the Thunderhawk a momentary respite.

However, the respite was short-lived. The chase resumed, with the Thunderhawk surging forward, attempting to deliver the Space Marines as close to the city as possible. Incoming fire rained down on the transport hull, incapacitating both engines. The Thunderhawk, now a crippled bird, was set for a harsh landing.

Meanwhile, in real space, the Chaos forces initiated their onslaught. Hordes of mutants threw themselves at the defensive lines, detonating mines with their bodies, and forcing the defenders into a war of attrition. The defenders’ resolve was tested as a wall of corpses formed in front of the barricades, and melee combat ensued.

The Thunderhawk’s landing was indeed harsh, claiming the lives of the pilots. Among the wreckage, the Inquisitors and Lady Gabriella emerged, miraculously unscathed. With limited options, they decided to cut across the fields, hoping to reach the city before the Chaos forces. Their journey, however, was fraught with danger as traitor Aartis, equipped with ancient Raptor jump packs, hunted them relentlessly.

In real space, Wolf Guard Stern Mark, clad in Terminator armor, found himself repelling wave after wave of attacks. The battle’s intensity was such that Stern Mark, a seasoned warrior, began to lose track of the onslaught’s sequence. The Space Marines were subjected to constant Raptor raids, their numbers dwindling with each skirmish.

In this dire situation, an unexpected aid arrived. The fields echoed with a ferocious wolf howl, and black shadows pounced on the Raptors. The Lost 13th Company had arrived to aid their beleaguered brothers. This company’s presence on the Shadow Planet was a surprise to both the traitors and the Loyalists, a twist that could potentially turn the tide of the battle.

As the war raged on, the Thousand Sons’ sinister plot came to light. Their attacks across the entire subsector were part of a grand ritual, designed to exploit the Space Wolves’ gene seed and awaken the curse of the Wulfen within them. Their goal? To annihilate their ancient enemy from within. The Heretics continued their advance on the spaceport, their relentless onslaught exhausting the Imperial forces.

The situation grew desperate as ammunition ran dry, and the youngest Space Marines began to witness hallucinations due to the ritual’s effects. Yet, in the face of overwhelming odds, the Imperials held their ground. Their retreat was strategic, giving up one line of defense after another until they reached the very spaceport.

The tale of the Shadow Planet continues, a tale of bravery, betrayal, and epic battles. Stay tuned as we delve deeper into this saga, exploring the fates of Stern Mark, the 13th Company, and the Space Marines fighting for survival on the Shadow Planet.
