In the grim darkness of the far future, the grandeur of Warhammer 40k unfolds as we delve into the enthralling saga of Chaos Knights and the Fortress of Metallica. The tale twists and turns around the invincible Chaos Knights, the loyalist forces defending Metallica, and the conspiracies within the metallic Empire. This is just another chapter in our multi-part series, so strap in and prepare for an epic ride.
The Chaos Knights, impervious to radiation weaponry, are a force to be reckoned with. They had already considered Metallica as a lost cause, a testament to the gravity of the situation. Adding to the irony, the very Fortress they sought to conquer was also designated as lost, not by the destructive power of the death guard, but by the last functioning orbital battery that remained under the unyielding control of the loyalists.
Typhus, the harbinger of the invasion, had his eyes firmly set on Metallica, fully cognizant of the threat the Lyra system posed. The arrival of the Knights of House Raven could tilt the balance of power against him. To counter this, he dispatched Sanat of the Word Bearers and Yaran Thy of the Alpha Legion to the system. Their task was to raid Imperial installations, sow seeds of fear among the House Raven rulers, and divert their attention from Metallica. But, as with all alliances, their motivations weren’t solely directed by Typhus’ plan.
Cunning and ruthless, they infiltrated the Lyra sub-sector, biding their time in the void’s depth, awaiting the fruition of their sinister plans. Meanwhile, Segmentum Ultima shimmered under the looming shadow of peril. The heart of the metallic Empire was also not spared, as secretive operations were underway, led by none other than Hepto Roda Mlang.
Once an ordinary data Smith within the metallic Legio Cybernetica, Mlang’s rapid rise to power was as impressive as it was disturbing. He was a man who favored the unblemished purity of machines over the flawed organic beings. His adoration for machines played a vital role in the battle on Scar Vine and in recovering the lost data of Amar brosa, earning him a higher rank within the metallic techno priesthood.
As he ascended the ranks, Mlang replaced more of his physical body with cybernetic augmentations, going beyond what even the Priests of the Omnia underwent. By the time he assumed the mantle of Fabricator General, his colossal, modified body resembled a super heavy battle tank. He moved on a roaring grav platform, a mechanized fortress adorned with mechad dendrites and servo instruments, a testament to his obsession with machines.
Mlang’s sanctum, the Forge of Excelsis, was an intricate network of info canals and electro-impulsive arrays, allowing him to observe his domains and absorb all information from the new sphere. His followers revered him, seeing him as a conduit for the Omnia’s will. However, Mlang’s unyielding belief in the divine revelations of the machine god proved to be his flaw, as he refused to accept events contradicting his calculations.
Yet, all was not as it seemed. His domains were rife with rumors of a walking plague on Fulum, slave uprisings, and electroc corruption on the Quarry world. Despite his best efforts to suppress these disturbances, the situation continued to worsen. The Forge of Excelsis was under siege, not from an external invader, but from Mlang’s own delusions and the corruption within. The stage is set for the next chapter in this gripping saga, where Mlang’s flawless mental fortress might just crumble under the weight of his own flawed calculations.
