War of the Beast – When the Imperium Could Have Ended – Part 2

Welcome back, fellow lore masters, to another thrilling entry in our ongoing series where we delve deep into the heart of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Today, we’ll be recounting the terrifying invasion of the Orc hordes and the epic struggle of the last remaining Imperial Fist, Captain Kurland.

Our tale begins in a time of dire calamity. The Orcs, an ever-present threat to the Imperium of Man, had found a new weapon of unimaginable power: the Attack Moons. These celestial monstrosities were not just fearsome weapons platforms, but also teleportation portals capable of disgorging endless hordes of Orcs. Each Attack Moon had devastating gravitational capabilities, causing natural and gravitational anomalies wherever they arrived. The very fabric of space-time would bend and twist, tearing planetary bodies asunder and causing catastrophic destruction on a cosmic scale.

The defenders of humanity, the Imperial Fists, stood valiantly against this onslaught. However, the relentless tide of the Orcs proved too fierce. The Imperial Fists fell in droves until only one battle-brother remained - Captain Kurland of the second company, the Company of the Daylight War.

Gravely injured and plunged into a recuperative coma, Captain Kurland represented the last hope of his chapter. Upon awakening, he refused to retreat to Terra. Instead, he embarked on a daring mission towards the fall system, activating a secret protocol known as 'The Last Wall.' This protocol united the successor chapters of Rogal Dorn, forming a legion of Aares to combat the Orc menace. The Black Templars, Crimson Fists, Excoriators, Iron Knights, and Fists Exemplar rallied to Kurland’s call.

As this legion of Aares united, the Orcs continued their relentless advance. Initially, they captured separate subsectors before moving onto entire sectors. The green-skinned menace didn't just bring destruction; they brought a wave of terror that saw heretical cults bowing to the Beast as a deity. Even then, the Beast showed no mercy, laying waste to these misguided cultists.

Amidst this chaos, one brave soul, Inquisitorial delegate Margaret Vand, grasped the true magnitude of the threat facing humanity. She rallied Admiral Lansung and his fleet, forcing them to confront the Orcs laying siege to the crucial shipyards of Port Sanctus within the Solar Segmentum.

The ensuing battle saw the Imperial forces caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the Orc warships and their looming Attack Moon. The Orcs, in a ruthless display of power, teleported their warriors directly through the void shields of the Imperium warships, causing havoc and destruction.

Despite the overwhelming odds, Lansung and his crew launched a desperate counterattack against the Attack Moon. Their guns weakened the enemy's defenses, allowing a swarm of smaller ships to penetrate the enemy's stronghold. Through sheer firepower and self-sacrifice, the humans managed to turn the tide in their favor.

Join us next time, as we continue to recount the bravery and sacrifice of the last Imperial Fist and the epic struggle of humanity against the relentless Orc onslaught.
