The Necron: Betrayal, Ruins, and the Silent King
In the dark, expansive universe of Warhammer 40,000, the necrotic legions of the Necron have seen their share of turmoil, treachery, and triumph. Today, we delve into the dark annals of their history to shed light on their ongoing struggles and the key players who have shaped their destiny.
From the Silent King’s rule to the Triarch’s cunning, the Necron have carved a name synonymous with treachery. A notable incident that rocked their world involved the local Fon ois, the Enslaver, who audaciously defied the Silent King’s commands. His insubordination sparked a chain of events that would forever alter the Necron realm.
The Crown World of the Necy Dynasty, the magnificent Mobius, suffered a catastrophic blow when it was ravaged by the brutal Orcs. The Triarchy’s cold indifference to the distress signals sent out by the besieged world resulted in the loss of a massive part of the Necy. In the aftermath, the Dynasty clung on, reclaiming their territories from the ashes of their decimated empire. Today, the Necy are considered peculiar, even by Necron standards, employing ruthless tactics to protect their realm. Honor and justice have become mere footnotes in their history books.
A labyrinthine world of crypts, the Necy’s Tomb World, is a mind-bending maze of hyperspace corridors. Its ever-changing structure has trapped and claimed the lives of many, from the Death Watch kill teams to the Mechanicus explorator and various xenos species.
Turn your gaze to the Sarakan Dynasty, famed for its exceptional use of Blackstone technology. Their Crown World is unique, not a planet but a massive warship, the Song of Oblivion. For 60 million years, Zarak, the ruler of the Sarakan, voyaged through space, leaving his subjects in a deep slumber on their tomb worlds.
However, his discovery of a Tyranid Hive Fleet forced an early awakening. The Sarakan’s return sparked rebellion within the Necron ranks, with many blaming him for their plight. Yet, despite their tumultuous history, the Sarakan are renowned for their mastery over Blackstone, creating formidable weapons and defenses against psychers and the warp.
The Mayar Dynasty, esteemed by the Silent King for their ruthless battle prowess, is another fascinating facet of the Necron’s history. Despite their value to the Silent King, other Dynasties despised them, viewing them as uncouth and savage. The Mayar’s reputation for cruelty was hard-earned, with tales of their brutal victory against Lugo the Flayer still echoing through Necron lore. Their victory, however, was tainted by the introduction of the Flayer Virus into their ranks – a curse that led to horrific transformations.
The galaxy’s northeastern edge houses their tomb world of Draak, known as the Bone Kingdom. Ruled by Valgal, the Fallen Lord, Draak is a fortress of carnage and decay, where the infected bring their grisly trophies to feed their metallic bodies. Interestingly, Valgal himself is unaffected by the Flayer Virus and rules his realm with an iron fist, reveling in the bloodlust of his subjects.
From the Silent King’s rule to the maze-like crypts of Mobius, the Necron’s tale is a saga of survival, treachery, and power. Their intricate history paints a picture of a civilization that has faced the worst of times yet continues to endure, making them one of the most intriguing factions in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
