Inquisition – The Emperor’s Left Hand – Part 17

Welcome back to our multi-part series where we delve into the grim, vast universe of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we embark on a journey into the heart of the Inquisition, exploring the daring deeds and complex character of some of its most notorious figures, starting with the iron-willed Emil Darkhammer.

Emil Darkhammer, an Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus, is a figure who commands respect and fear in equal measure. With a record of more than 30 instances of Exterminatus – the complete annihilation of a planet – Darkhammer’s reputation precedes him. His targets have ranged from entire planets spiraling into uncontrollable conflict or spiritual decay to mere dissidents or ancient artifacts. Darkhammer’s actions, while extreme, are always driven by his creed, his unwavering belief in the philosophy of monodominance.

The first War of Armageddon was one of the rare instances where Darkhammer refrained from Exterminatus. Instead, he opted for a program of mass executions and psionic brainwashing, a decision evidently made with great reluctance. Darkhammer’s presence, combined with the Space Wolves’ desperate fight for Armageddon, was enough to keep the planet from falling into complete chaos.

However, Darkhammer’s recent actions have stirred notable controversy among his brethren. After the destruction of planet Kavlock and its defenders, a full-scale vendetta broke out between him and Inquisitor Helina Valyria. This has made Darkhammer’s mission even more arduous, forcing him into constant self-defense.

Next, we have Kryptman, an Inquisitor whose relentless fight against the Tyranids has become his defining characteristic. When the living Armada of Leviathan invaded the Imperium, Kryptman’s obsession with fighting the xenos nearly consumed him. His radical methods led to the scorching or destruction of several dozen planets, but it slowed the onslaught of the voracious aliens.

Despite being expelled from the Inquisition and forced into hiding, Kryptman continues his personal war against the Tyranids. It is rumored that Kryptman was the mastermind behind Leviathan’s conflict with the Orcs of Octarius, buying the Imperium several precious decades.

Our journey today also brings us to Jenna Orel, a veteran of the Inquisition who has served for many decades. After inheriting her mentor’s Inquisitorial seal, followers, and a mission of extreme importance – preventing the second coming of the ancient star Gods called Catan – Orel has proven herself time and again. Her keen interest in other races and their technology, while frowned upon by conservative members of the Inquisition, has become a crucial part of her strategy.

Finally, we have Gideon Ravenor, a man known for his keen intuition, impressive intellect, and high psychic potential. After a terrorist attack left him permanently disabled, Ravenor channeled all his energy into developing his psychic skills to frightening heights. Despite his physical confines, Ravenor has led several noteworthy squads and continues to defend the Imperium with unyielding resolve.

Stay tuned as we continue our exploration of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where every hero and villain has a story as vast and complex as the universe itself.
