Inquisition – The Emperor’s Left Hand – Part 21

Title: The Armoured Titans of Warhammer 40,000: A Deep Dive

In the grim darkness of the far future, the art of producing Rhinoceros vehicles – the iconic armoured personnel carriers (APCs) of the Imperium – has become somewhat of a lost knowledge. Despite this, the esteemed organisations such as the Adeptus Astartes and the Inquisition seem to have no problem securing these invaluable steel steeds for their operations.

Inquisitors, the secretive agents of the Throne, are frequently deployed in the heart of battlefields. The Rhino APCs, with their robust builds and easy repairs, are their preferred chariots. Some Inquisitors might commandeer the first APC they come across, but others boast their own fleets, including a variety of armoured vehicles with the Rhino being a staple.

Enter the Chimera, an Infantry Fighting Vehicle that is as common as it is resilient in the countless warzones of the Imperium. Their reliability, tactical flexibility, and suitability for mass production make them a staple in the Imperial arsenal. The Chimera stands tall in tank battles, capable of engaging targets notably heavier than itself, equipped with a variety of anti-personnel weaponry, and offering its passengers the ability to fire from the upper hatch and batteries of Las guns.

The Chimera also boasts an efficient Vox station with built-in encryption systems, a crucial tool for Inquisitors to communicate without interference or eavesdropping. Given its remarkable capacity, it’s not surprising that it serves many Ordo agents as a mobile base of operations.

Land Raiders, the adamantium-armoured war machines, are a terrifying presence on the battlefield. Their multi-layered ceramite coating makes them nigh invulnerable to all but the most powerful weapons. Equipped with paired Las guns and heavy bolters, these mobile fortresses can confidently annihilate enemy vehicles and infantry squads. Their spacious passenger compartments can accommodate an Inquisitor and his entire warband, making them a formidable tool in the hands of the militant Inquisitors, especially those of the Malleus operatives.

However, not every servant of the Throne would opt for such a gargantuan transport. Their size and distinct outline make them ill-suited for covert operations. That said, a single Land Raider dropping a Tron agent and his entourage into the thick of battle can turn the tide in the fight against the demonic hordes.

The Crusader variant of the Land Raider is designed for breaching enemy fortifications, landing the Inquisitor and his squad smack in the heart of the enemy army. Instead of Las guns, each Crusader is armed with Hurricane bolters that can decimate crowds of heretics, cultists, and mutants. With an enlarged passenger compartment, it can accommodate even the most numerous or unusual retinue of an agent of the Throne.

Navigating the narrow, debris-filled streets of a ruined city or the passageways of a collapsed temple is a treacherous task. That’s where the Redeemer Land Raiders come in. Armed with guns that spew jets of blazing promethium, they’re perfect for purging nests of heretics with cleansing fire.

The Razorback BMP is a heavily armed Rhino variant with reduced passenger capacity to accommodate a gun turret. These armored vehicles serve as both transport and mobile firing points, making them ideal for Inquisitors who prefer a small group of elite soldiers.

Finally, we have the Valkyries – the twin-engine amphibious assault airplanes. Their strong armor, powerful turbines, and good controlability make them suitable for a variety of tactical roles. Variable thrust vectoring engines allow these vehicles to make daring maneuvers in heavy air battles at low altitudes, and hover motionlessly while soldiers disembark from the holds on cables.

The Imperium’s arsenal is vast and varied, each vehicle serving a distinct purpose in the eternal war against the forces of Chaos. From the reliability of the Rhino to the devastating power of the Land Raider, these armored titans stand as the bulwark against the darkness that threatens to engulf the galaxy.
