Title: The Unseen Blades of the Raven Guard: The Darkened Blades & Whisper Claws
In the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Raven Guard stands as a beacon of hope. The Darkened Blades, the sixth company, and the Whisper Claws, the seventh company, have carved out a reputation as fearsome liberators. Their modus operandi is simple yet effective: they target the rot festering in the heart of oppressed worlds and excise it with surgical precision. These warriors do not discriminate between the various forms of corruption they confront, for every malady has a common cure – purifying flame.
When the decay of tyranny is centralized, the Darkened Blades strike with the speed of lightning, overwhelming the enemy before they can even react. Drawing upon the strategies of the Adepto Saatis, they amass an irresistible force against the unprepared foe. Yet, more often than not, the rot is endemic, spread across continents or even planets. In these situations, the company splits into squads, conducting rapid guerrilla actions to maximize the impact of their limited numbers.
But the Raven Guard’s mission doesn’t end with liberation. They also train local resistance forces in the Shadow Arts, empowering the populace to resist future oppressors. Far from indulging in post-liberation celebrations, they vanish, moving on to the next oppressed world. Their work is never done. Ever since the Great Rift tore through the galaxy, countless Imperial worlds have fallen into the hands of tyrants and renegades. The Raven Guard is in a perpetual state of war.
The Whisper Claws, on the other hand, are masters of mobility and responsive combat. They favor swift, unexpected attacks, often utilizing the chapter’s aerial assets to catch their enemies off guard. Their combat doctrine is a testament to the teachings of their founder, Corax, who believed speed and stealth to be two sides of the same coin. Whether striking from hiding or launching an attack too swift to be countered, the Whisper Claws are a force to be reckoned with.
When the Raven Guard unites for battle, the Whisper Claws often fight alongside the neophytes and the Primaris Vanguard Specialists of the 10th company. They form elite assault forces that capture strategic points and disrupt enemy supply lines.
In keeping with Corax’s teachings, both the Darkened Blades and the Whisper Claws frequently use deceptive heraldic symbols on their armor. This company, more than any other, alters the ways in which identification marks and squad numbers are displayed, misleading their enemy.
The eighth company, intriguingly known as ‘The Unseen,’ is the Raven Guard’s reserve of immediate support. Their squads often fight in their own detachments, further reinforcing the chapter’s principles of individuality and self-reliance. Many of Corax’s genetic sons prefer entering the battlefield on the fiery wings of a jump pack, fitting seamlessly into the eighth company.
The Raven Guard’s battle doctrines rely more on speed and maneuverability than on brute force. Their strikes are lethally quick and brutally precise, slicing through the defenses of their enemies by the path of least resistance. In the grim darkness of the far future, the Raven Guard’s Darkened Blades and Whisper Claws stand as a beacon of hope against the forces of decay and tyranny.
