Shortly About Daemon Engines – Part 12

Title: The Sinister Whisper of Chaos: Unveiling the Forge Fiends and Hell Stalkers of Warhammer 40,000

Welcome back, fellow lore enthusiasts, to yet another deep dive into the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we’re peeling back the veil on the monstrous machinations of Chaos: the Forge Fiends, Spy Borns and Hell Stalkers. These are no ordinary machines, but rather unholy amalgamations of technology and the warp, brought to life by the whims of their creators.

Picture this: an entity varying from the skeletal form of a humanoid to the countenance of an armored golem or a wolf-like creature. These are the Forge Fiends, or Spy Borns as they’re known. In states of inactivity, these monstrosities are suspended on blasphemous altars, manufactured gallows where the fabric of real space is thinned to the point that the Immaterium pierces through. Activation of these fiends is a spectacle in itself, brought to life with the use of glyphs – intelligent runes imbued with sinister power, floating and flickering in the air like glowing wings.

These glyphs serve a purpose beyond mere activation. They demarcate territories, border lines, and send warnings about violations to the enslaved populations. However, once activated, these Spy Borns morph into uncontrollable beasts, lashing out at any nearby targets. These monsters quickly exhaust their charge, usually resembling a coronal discharge or ball lightning, and are forced to return to the gallows to recharge. But beware, an awakened and fully powered Spy Born is a frenzied and almost unstoppable enemy. When damaged enough, they explode furiously, annihilating everything within a certain radius.

Next, we turn our attention to the Hell Stalkers, the loyal metallic steeds of the Lord Discordant. These are not mere machines, but infernal constructs that crush enemies with blade-like limbs. They are the stuff of nightmares, leaping at enemy machines and embedding their massive front limbs into their prey, piercing ablative armor and latching onto turrets. Some of these infernal constructs even open the steel hide of their victims with magma cutters, or use armor-piercing syringes to inject trash code and demon-infected phages into the electronic circuits.

For the Lord Discordant, there is a perverse pleasure in the machine’s pain. The Hell Stalker revels in the suffering, feasting on the driving force, be it a machine spirit or some other esoteric infomind residing in xenos technology. As it swells with the absorbed code and sub-programs, cracks in its shell begin to close, emitting warp energy. The Lord Discordant extracts the tormented spirit of the dying machine, using the stolen power to repair friendly infernal constructs or released as a screaming beam capable of infecting the systems of another enemy.

The Forge Fiends and Hell Stalkers are but a glimpse into the demonic engines of Chaos. In our next post, we’ll delve deeper into these unholy inventions. If you haven’t already, make sure to subscribe and keep your eyes peeled for more grimdark lore, coming your way. Till then, may the Emperor protect you.
