The Rise of Metalica and Nurgle’s Plague Invasion – Part 8

Title: “The Unyielding Wrath of Balquin Lathia: The Invasion of the Alumx System in Warhammer 40,000”

In the grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000 universe, a relentless saga unfolded in the Alumx system. The conflict was ignited by the slow-paced yet persistent approach of Traxa Plasmax, a commander who advanced through the network of caves in a grinding manner. Despite being labeled unimaginative by his rival champions, his meticulous advance was brutally effective, and the Imperial forces found themselves continually outflanked by his troops.

Counterattacks failed one after another, and the Agri Caverns quickly transformed into grotesque burial grounds, filled with disfigured and writhing corpses. The war for Torza morphed into a chilling extermination of the Loyalists, a grim testament to Traxa’s relentless onslaught.

The second stage of the invasion saw Plague Captain Osmos, the Filthy, take the reins. Known for his unparalleled skills as a void commander and being one of Titus’s chosen lieutenants, Osmos brought a new level of terror to the conflict. But his opposition was not entirely helpless.

The Cardian 727 Army Group, under the command of Colonel Elena Broski, stood against him. Even under the shadow of their enemy’s numerical superiority, the worlds under Broski’s protection held firm. Colonel Broski orchestrated a determined defense around the hive world of St. Bol’s Throne, successfully repelling heretic uprisings and Death Guard reconnaissance parties.

However, as impressive as Broski’s stand was, it was akin to the flame of a candle in a hurricane. The Titans of Legio Morbidus attacked the mining world of Geleia, aiming to seize its mineral wealth. The militia forces retreated in the face of such colossal adversaries, their resistance repeatedly crumbling like insects before the strides of giants.

In a desperate bid for survival, the Imperial Defenders, with the aid of the planet’s mining collectives, managed to destroy several traitor Titans by filling surface workings with explosive charges and toppling the divine machines into craters. Yet, their resistance was short-lived.

As the defenders sought refuge underground, the orbital plague ships deployed Terminator squads, Plague Lords, and infectious substances into the mining shafts. One by one, the defenders fell, surrendering before the wrath of Balquin Lathia. Geleia was lost in less than a cycle, reduced to vapor by an atomic explosion.

Yet, all hope was not lost. A green-skinned savior emerged in the form of Captain Draad Scabo, an Orc Corsair whose hordes turned their attention towards the invading plague ships. Despite suffering a defeat in the Toth Straight at the hands of Agil Osmos, the Orc distraction bought the remnants of the Imperial Defenders enough time to retreat to the observation station Meta Oel Gamma 4.

Despite the grim situation, periodic reports indicated that the Adeptus Aartis had responded to Colonel Broski’s distress signal, launching several raids against the invaders. Alas, the reality was harsh – the Alumx system had fallen.

In the next part of our series, we’ll delve into the titanic onslaught unleashed by Typhus the Traveler and Lord Zahad on Dur Alim, and the desperate struggle for survival that unfolded on the ancient Hive world of Eris Blendis, under the shadow of the three conjoined demon princes known as the Kislings.
