The Saga of the Daemon Princes – Part 2

Welcome, fellow lore enthusiasts, to our multi-part series unraveling the blood-soaked tapestry of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we dive into the infernal depths of the demon princes, the most infamous of which are the traitor primarchs who turned to chaos during the Horus Heresy. These valiant defenders of humanity, once the shining beacons of the Imperium, are now forever shrouded in infamy, their names etched in the annals of treachery.

Even the Inquisition, with all its hatred, can’t help but acknowledge the haunting presence of these traitor primarchs who prefer to wage war within the Eye of Terror. Rarely do they step out of their infernal domains, leaving the raids to their underlings vying for their approval and recognition. Yet, the demonic primarchs are not the only ones to be feared. There exist demon princes of even greater power, ancient beings who sold their souls long before humanity ventured from Terra to traverse the cosmic void.

As we delve into the saga of the demon princes, we will recount the horrific deeds they committed in the name of their abhorrent patrons and their eventual apotheosis into demonhood. Our tale today revolves around Cor Migron, the Reaper of Rodx, a mighty warrior once known for his victories in the name of the Imperium.

The Word Bearers, known for their unwavering devotion to the dark gods, were at the forefront of the Horus Heresy. Among the traitors was Cor Migron, who once brought lost civilizations to complete compliance and laid low hundreds of Xenos. After Horus’s defeat, Migron sought to undo all he had achieved, leading a blood-soaked crusade across the cosmos.

His greatest work concluded on the cathedral world of Rodx. For three months, the Word Bearers fought against a loyalist army, their streets littered with corpses. When ammunition ran dry, Migron resorted to his bare hands, leading his warband to the Basilica of St. Pet. Despite facing 2,000 warriors of the 14th Cadian, the Word Bearers did not yield. Each kill was an offering to chaos, an oath of loyalty to the dark gods.

In a show of defiance, Migron toppled a 12m statue of St. Pet, erecting a blasphemous barrow on the sacred grounds of the Basilica. As the Imperial Guardsmen charged once more, Migron ascended upon his ghastly elevation and proclaimed his devotion to the dark lords of the empyrean.

In response, the ruinous powers rewarded his audacity. The might of chaos transformed Migron, his skin charred, horns sprouting from his head. Where once stood a proud Space Marine, now towered a demon prince. With renewed fervor, his subordinates rejoiced in his transformation, tearing asunder the marble sword of St. Pet with a force of change.

This tale represents the path to power and the eventual apotheosis into demonhood of Cor Migron, a journey filled with betrayals, battles, and unwavering devotion to the dark gods. As we continue this series, we will explore more such tales, diving deep into the blood-soaked history of the most notorious demons of chaos. Stay tuned as we further brave the treacherous cosmos of Warhammer 40,000.
