In part of an ongoing series, we delve into the heart-stopping drama in the galaxy of Warhammer 40,000. Today, we take you on a thrilling journey to a pivotal point in this cosmic saga – a planet on the verge of ruin and an unlikely alliance that could determine the fate of mankind.
In a universe where alliances are fickle, a clandestine ally of humanity emerged from the shadows – the Necron Overlord Trzin the Infinite. For many, the thought of aligning with the Necron was abhorrent, but the weight of pragmatism tipped the scales. The Necron and Tech-Priest Belisarius Cawl plunged into the planet’s depths, for Trzin held the key to resurrecting the pylons – monoliths his race had erected when they were still known as the Necrontyr.
As the duo delved deep into the planet’s core, the heavens above churned, not with storm clouds, but with the ominous dropships of the Chaos forces. Like a swarm of locusts, millions descended onto the planet. The elite Black Legion, led by Abaddon the Despoiler, joined by demons and Space Marines, were not mere cultists or heretics. Intent on personal vengeance, Abaddon sought to destroy the resilient Lord Castellan Creed, who had long thwarted his victories.
The ensuing battle was bloody and brutal. The Black Legion clashed with Creed’s troops, their numbers dwindling yet their spirits unbroken. They defended their commander and planet with superhuman valor, taking many Chaos Space Marines to their graves.
Meanwhile, the Skitarii and Castellan robots engaged in ruthless close combat with demonic machines. The Legion of the Damned emerged like a beacon of hope, incinerating thousands of foes with righteous retribution. The battlefield became a swirling vortex of blood and horror, courage and cowardice, reason and madness.
Despite the battlefield chaos, squads of demons and heretics managed to infiltrate the depths of the planet, reaching Trzin and Belisarius. In a desperate gambit, Trzin unveiled his trump card – his collection from the Tessera Labyrinth. Ultramarines from the time of the Horus Heresy, Inquisitor Katarina Greyfax, several Contemptor Dreadnoughts, and even a Custodian Guard from Terra were unleashed, bewildered but ready to fight the horde of demons.
In the midst of this pandemonium, Abaddon captured Creed, intent on a slow, agonizing death. Yet, the icy resolve of Creed fueled his fury. The Living Saint Celestine intervened at the last moment, her sword piercing Abaddon. This distraction allowed the faithful Kell to rescue Creed, but not without paying the ultimate price.
With Kadia on the brink of destruction, Abaddon made a desperate move – steering his flagship, the Will of Eternity, towards the planet. Despite the efforts of the planet’s defenses, the ship breached the atmosphere, causing catastrophic damage and rendering the pylons inoperable.
With evacuation as the only option, Creed, the Lord Castellan, made the heart-wrenching decision to leave his home. He vowed to stay back to hold off any heretics attempting to sabotage the evacuation. Following his lead, the surviving soldiers of the 8th Cadian chose to stay and fight, a testament to their unyielding spirit. Stay tuned, as we continue to unravel the enthralling saga of Warhammer 40,000.
