Why Did Necrons Turn Their Worlds into Tombs? – Part 2

In this part of our multi-part series on the exciting world of Warhammer 40,000, we delve deep into the ancient and powerful Subar Dynasty. This dynasty, like many others, was nearly obliterated but managed to find a lifeline in the SAR drift planets, which are known for their rich mineral resources.

The tale of the Subar Dynasty is one of intrigues and power struggles, mostly led by Amont, who had intended to awaken peacefully and rule the dynasty. However, his long-standing animosity towards the Chanofok Dynasty threatened to throw his plans into disarray. It’s not unusual for Necrons to be at odds with each other, but Amont’s hatred for the Chavo Dynasty, even in his sleep, was unusually intense. Over millions of years, this resentment grew, eventually seizing his consciousness under the influence of the Hollow Sun program.

When the program received a transmission from the Choox, it decided to awaken him. The first thing that filled Amont’s newly awakened consciousness was a flood of hatred. He was no longer the ruler he once was; all that remained was pure animosity towards his fraternal Dynasty.

Amont, in his wrath, sent a counter signal to destroy the Crown World’s control program, turning many Necrons into mindless automatons. It seemed the Suba Dynasty was destined for ruin. But then, a new regent, Aotech, emerged. He managed to rally the coherent Necrons and took control of the tomb, which was on the brink of system failure. Today, he is known as the Fon of the Subaca Dynasty, although he lacks the command protocols still held by Amont.

Aotech’s primary objective is to extract these protocols and make Subaca a powerful dynasty once again. Assisting him in this endeavor is the Cryptech Osan, the Codify. Osan has been tirelessly searching for a way to extract the protocols from Amont’s head. However, Osan’s loyalty to Aotech is questionable, as he dreams of resurrecting Amont under the moniker of the Crimson Scthe.

Amont is still alive, albeit asleep, and he holds on to the vital protocols. He faces a choice, to die or to voluntarily surrender the protocols – a decision Necrons typically never make.

As the Hollow Sun gradually comes back to life, its local scarabs are repairing the stasis crypts, restoring everything to order. The Tomb is filled with Necrons who could cause a commotion in the Jericho Reap. Hidden within Amont’s head are not only the command protocols but also the secret of the Hollow Sun’s creation and other mysteries that extend far beyond the Jericho Reach.

The Tomb World is considered a true Necron artifact and a marvel of engineering. The Subar Dynasty’s necropolis is of city-like proportions, filled with mysterious machines protecting the Crown World from the star’s energy. The old, dusty halls of the tomb are covered with machine components that can alter reality.

One of the most notable locations within the Hollow Sun is the pyramidal tomb of Amont and a gigantic crescent-shaped hall made of living metal. This hall can accommodate hundreds of thousands of Necron warriors, and at its core stand the enormous Dolman Gates, which the Subar Dynasty uses to dispatch its armies to new territories.

And now, a word about the Chanofok Dynasty, the object of Amont’s deep-seated fear and hatred. In our next post, we will explore this Dynasty’s relationship with the Subar Dynasty and the role it plays in the sprawling narrative of Warhammer 40,000. Stay tuned!
